BRUNO LEWALLEN
WARNER ROBINS - Bruno Lewallen, 80,
passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005, at
Serenity Gate. Graveside services will be held
at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 (TODAY),
in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Visitation was
from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at
McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests donations be made to Hospice of Houston County
103 Westridge Drive Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Bruno was bom July 19,1924, in Glenmary, Tenn. He was
the son of Ollie Bell Parker Lewallen and Cicero Grandville
Lewallen. Bruno lost his mother at an early age. At the age
9 growing up in Verdune, Tenn., his closest friend was
Herbert Kidd. With the help of a family friend Bill
Pennycuff, Bruno accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior
and professed this to anyone he knew and met. In the year
1941 at the age of 15 he changed his age and enlisted in the
United States Army Air Corps. He also served in World War
11. He served with honor and valor in Central Europe,
Northern France, Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, and
Ardennes Rhineland. He received the European African
Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Silver Star, Good
Conduct Medal, and the Bronze Star. The war was put
behind him and he returned to Oneida, Tenn. Bruno had
nothing in Oneida to keep him there, so he enlisted in the
United States Navy and soon married Arrie Herndon. They
were married for 53 years, before she preceded him in
death. Bruno became a police officer, a Mason, and deputy
sheriff. His first duty was to God, family, then his country
and friends. He will be missed by all whom he knew and
touched in his journey through life. Bruno loved and cher
ished every moment he had with his family and we will miss
him until we meet again.
Survivors include his children, Vonda Sharp, Denise
Revell, Susan Nye, and Gilda Grizzaffi; brothers, David
Lewallen, Andy Lewallen, Charles Lewallen; sisters, Violace
Choate, Brenda Stanley, Fanny Terry; six grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren.
Go to www.mcculloughfh.com to sign the Online Registry
for the family. McCullough Funeral Home has charge of
arrangements.
