The American Association of University Women donated “Wings and Rockets, the
Story of Women in Air and Space,” by Jeannine Atkins, to the Houston County school
media centers. Media Specialists met and were presented the books by Evelyn Merk,
the representative from AAUW (standing). Seated are Brenda Kinnas of Kings Chapel
Elementary School, Pat Frisch of Lindsey Elementary School, and Marilyn Mashbum of
Westside Elementary School.

During the legislative session, members of the Houston County School Food Service
Association visited with Houston County senators and representatives at the Capitol in
Atlanta, to share the Georgia School Food Service’s 2005 issues. Pictured are (from left)
Wanda Keene, nutrition manager at Perdue Primary and Georgia School Food Service
Association’s Third District president; Diane Langley, nutrition manager at Houston
County High School and Houston County SFS Association president; Maria Harrell,
nutrition manager at Lake Joy Elementary School and president-elect for Houston
