Hint Foundation awards grants

Energies Foundation recent
ly awarded a handful of
grants to local organiza
tions.
• Houston County’s Meals
on Wheels program has been
awarded a $7,500 grant by
the Flint Energies
Foundation. The grant will
be used to cover program’s
food costs for one month.
• The American Legion
Post 172 of Warner Robins
has been awarded a $5,000
grant by the Flint Energies
Foundation. The grant will
be used to provide the
Middle Georgia Honor
Guard uniforms for the for
mal program and for use in
military funerals. In addi
tion, the funds will be used
to buy supplies for military

Flint Energies Foundation.
family picnics and to provide
blue star banners, lapel pins
and stickers to all military
families in the community.
• Girl Scouts of Middle
Georgia Inc. has been
awarded a $5,000 grant by
the Flint Energies
Foundation. The grant will
be used to assist in the pur
chase of a new tractor and
heavy-duty, round back
front-end loader for the
maintenance and improve
ment of Camp Martha
Johnston.
• Houston County High
School FFA has been award
ed a $5,000 grant by the
Flint Energies Foundation.
Due to increased student
involvement in FFA, an
additional barn is required
to accommodate five to 10
more student livestock proj
ects. The grant will be used
to purchase feed for the
school farm animals, materi
als to expand a barn and
medical cost for cattle.
• The American Legion
Auxiliary Unit 172 of
Warner Robins has been
awarded a $1,950 grant by
the Flint Energies
Foundation. The grant will
be used to send 10 high
school junior girls to Girls
State at Georgia Southern
University in Statesboro.
Girls State is a weeklong
accelerated course in gov
ernment, citizenship and
leadership.
In 2000, Flint Energies
adopted this uniquely sim
ple and rewarding way to
enable members to raise
money for local charities
LOCAL
and service organizations -
Operation Round Up. The
electric cooperative’s mem
bers contribute nearly
$300,000 annually to the
Flint Energies Foundation,
which supports worthy caus
es in the 16 counties it
serves. Operation Round Up
is a way for members to add
voluntarily to those funds in
their own unique way.
Participating members
allow Flint Energies to
“round-up” their bill to the
nearest dollar. For example,
if a bill is $92.71, a member
will pay $93, with all 29
cents going directly to the
Flint Energies Foundation.

80 percent of Flint’s mem

and February bills.

Foundation Board of
Directors disburses all con
tributions to approved, wor
thy projects. Member contri
butions are not used for
