“He’s a child. He’s strong
and he’s going to bounce
back.”
That’s the mindset of her
son, too, she added. His plan,
she said, is not only to come
back, but to do it in style.
“He’s already talking
about getting a ‘six-pack,’”
she said - his weight today
is around 208. “He’s always
had a bit of a blubber stom
ach but he keeps talking
about now, ‘l’ve got to work
on that stomach and get
those 'guns' in order.’”
He’s a bit of a kidder - she
described him, the middle
son in a family of three boys,
as a jokester with a great
sense of humor - but in that
case he’s making light but
plenty serious.
At age 15 - he will be 16 in
October - he was just enter
ing his sophomore year, and
coming off a freshman one
in which he saw “consider
able” playing time at defen
sive end, said Northside
head coach Conrad Nix.
“He’s a good kid,” he said.
“(He’s got a) great personal
ity. He was really starting to
come along (on the football
field).”
That despite the fact
he really only took up the
game - and basketball - in
middle school, his mother
said, although she added he
has always been athletically
inclined.
If all goes as hoped, she
said he would be out one
semester - probably two
because his immune system
will still be weak.
Either way, come his
junior year, he plans to take
