Houston office nets SB.B million in child support collections

The Houston Judicial
Circuit, Child Support
Enforcement office (OCSE)
collected SB.B million dol
lars in child support collec
tions for fiscal year 2005. In
Georgia as a whole, OCSE
collected $590 million, a 6
percent increase over last
year.
“The Houston office was
able to increase collections
by 7 percent over the $8.28
million we collected last
year,” says Judy Sanders,
OCSE manager. “OCSE
sends the money directly to
the custodial parents. For

mark National Library Week.
Monday was “Reading is Cool”
and sunglasses were worn.
Tuesday was “Readers Are
Leaders” and hats were worn to
represent a career. Wednesday
was “Families That Read
Together, Succeed Together” and
family members were invited to
read to classes. Thursday was
“Reading Builds Character” and
everyone dressed as a book char
acter. Friday was “Life Without
Books Would Be Unbearable."
Students brought teddy bears to
school and Andrea McGee, princi
pal, read the book, “Teddy Bears’
Picnic,” to the entire school. The
students and teachers enjoyed a
picnic lunch outside. Pictured are

HCHS FCCLA state president
introduces conference speaker
Houston County High student and 2004-05 Family,
Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
State President Dabe Patterson presided at the recent
FCCLA State Leadership meeting held at the Gwinnett
Place Marriott in Duluth. One of her duties at the confer
ence was introducing speaker, Vicki Maxwell, a former
FCCLA state officer, at the state officer luncheon. Dabe
has had a busy year as state president, including attend
ing the National Leadership meeting in Chicago, Cluster
meeting in Nashville, representing FCCLA at a reception
at the Governor’s Mansion, visiting with Gov. Sonny
Perdue at the Capitol and speaking to FCCLA chapters
across the state. Dabe’s local advisers are Nelda Clay
and Jane Cooper. She is the daughter of Dave and
Beverly Patterson.

todial parents obtain court
orders and collect pay
ments. OCSE also distrib
utes support payments for a
smaller number of parents
who did not require state
help to establish their cases.

with child support cases

Custodial parents may
apply to any OCSE office for
help finding an absent par
ent, establishing paternity,

is $25 for any parent who
does not receive Temporary
Assistance for Needy
Families.
WRPD seeks
three gunmen
Warner Robins Police are
investigating an early
morning aggravated
assault and armed robbery
at 124 1/2 S. Third St.
At approximately 12:15
a.m. Wednesday, officers
responded there in refer
ence to a report of three
men with guns. Police
learned that Donald Hart,
38, had been assaulted by
the trio, two of whom had
handguns and one had a
shotgun.
Police said Hart was
struck several times by
the suspects before they
took his jewelry and his
wallet, which contained
an undisclosed amount of
cash. The victim was not
shot but was beaten up,
said Lt. Bobby Brantley
of the Warner Robins
Police Department
Criminal Investigations
Division. ’
Hart was taken by
ambulance to the
Houston Medical Center,
where he was treated for
his injuries and released.

pects are described as
black men, each about 5-
