County’s “Team Spirit Award” for the second quarter. Taylor is a registered nurse
who has been with hospice for one year.

William Paul “Florida Paul” Davis and Danny Clark arrived in Perry on Thursday
from Pinehurst, walking on U.S. 41 on their “Quest for Vests - A Salute to America’s
Veterans Who Protect Our Freedom.” The two men from St. Augustine, Fla., mem
bers of VFW Post 2391, took leave from their jobs for the walk from St. Augustine
to Nashville, Tenn. The walk began April 29 in St. Augustine, Fla., and so far has
had stops in Green Cove Springs, Lake Butler, Lake City and Jasper in Florida and
Valdosta, Tifton, Ashburn and Cordele in Georgia.

age 89, died Saturday.

Esther Thompson Smith.
She was a graduate of
Perry High and a member
of Elko Baptist Church.

Auburn, Wash., and
Laura Thron of Tocoma,
Wash.; one brother, Arnold

Minn.; seven grandchil
dren and nine great grand

WARNER ROBINS David Woodard, 59, passed away
Thursday. Services were held Monday in the chapel of
McCullough Funeral Home with internment following in
Giddens-Harrell Cemetery, Dodge County. Visitation was
Sunday at McCullough Funeral Home. Flowers will be
accepted or memorials may be given to the donor’s favorite
charity.
Woodard was born on Dec. 12, 1946 in Chester. He was a
member of Primitive Baptist Church in Dodge County. He
was retired from civil service at Robins Air
Force Base where he was employed as a C
-141 aircraft technician. He proudly served his
country for six years in the United States
Army. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member
of Duck Creek Hunting Club, R and A (Rod
and Gun Club) and loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was also a dealer at Smiley’s Flea Market.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Woodard, Warner
Robins; son, Douglas Malik (Jessica), Warner Robins; grand
children, Joey, Gavin and Carter Malik; all of Warner
Robins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gerald and Linda Day,
Macon; Clifton and Kay Lord, Warner Robins; Warner and
Patricia, Sanford, Fla.; Jimmy and Patty Roberts, Fla,;
aunts and uncles, Dorothy Stephens, Warner Robins; Ruth
Kirkpatrick, Chester; Donald Self, Eastman; John B. Self,
Chester; and many beloved nephews, cousins and friends.

WARNER ROBINS Manuel S. Cruz, 85, passed away
Friday in his home. Cruz was born on July 23, 1920 in
Chihuahan, Mexico. A veteran of the United States Army
and United States Air Force, Cruz served his country during
World War 11. He was retired from civil service at Robins Air
Force Base where he worked as an equipment specialist.
