Each year, Tammy and
Michael Stanley hold
a big outdoor celebra
tion at their country
home on Langston Road
in Perry, for the stu
dents at Sacred Heart
School. This year, they
invited the elementary
students on Thursday
and the middle school
on Friday. The outdoor
event included fishing,
swimming, nature trail
walks, playing games of
all sorts, and a big picnic

Air Force earns EPA award

WASHINGTON The
Environmental Protection
Agency formally recog
nized the United States
Air Force for outstanding
support of green power
and renewable energy at
a ceremony this past week
in Washington, D.C.
The 2006 EPA Climate
Protection Award winners
included individuals, orga
nizations and companies
from around the world for
their efforts to protect the
Earth’s climate and strato
spheric ozone layer.
The Air Force, which is
America’s largest green

College can obtain a four
year degree from ABAC on
its Tifton campus.
The Academic Affairs
Committee of the Board of
Regents of the University
System of Georgia gave
ABAC approval today to
offer a Bachelor of Applied
Science degree with a major
in turf grass and golf course
management and a Bachelor
of Applied Science degree
with a major in diversified

Under its previous titles of
South Georgia A&M College
and Georgia State College
For Men, the institution
offered four-year degrees
from 1925-33. Since the
name changed to ABAC in
1933, the college has offered
only two-year degrees.
ABAC currently offers 55
two-year programs of study
in a wide range of majors
including nursing, educa
tion, wildlife, criminal jus
tice, and forestry. The col
lege experienced an all time
enrollment high of 3,423

ally, equivalent to saving
1.5 million barrels of oil
or taking 135,000 cars off
the road.
