The United Methodist Women
of Centerville United Methodist
Church will sponsor a tour of six
local gardens ending with a deli
cious lunch at the church social hall
located at 600 Houston Lake Road
in Centerville on Saturday morning
June 3. The tour of the gardens
will run from 9 a.m. until noon with
a salad lunch from 11:30 a.m. until
1:30 p.m. Tickets for the Garden
Tour only may be purchased at the
gardens on the day of the tour for
$lO per person. Lunch and garden
tour tickets are sls per person and
lunch only is $5. Deadline to pur
chase tickets for Tour and Lunch or

Ronald L. (Ronnie) Denney, 71, of Lithia Springs, died
Saturday at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday
at St. James United Methodist Church in Hogansville, with
interment in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
Denney was born December 10, 1934, in Hogansville, son
of the late James Robert Denney and the late Velma Laura
Zimmerman Denney. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean
War, he owned and operated Ronnie Denney Barber and
Beauty Shop from 1964 until his retirement in 1999. He was
a member of Battle Hill Masonic Lodge #523, was an honor
ary 33rd degree Mason, was a member of Sweetwater Shrine
Club and was named Shriner of the Year in 1997. For many
vears, he coached the Lithia Springs Boxing Club, which
won the Golden Gloves Team Title for seven years.
Survivors ‘include three daughters, Melinda Denney of
Mableton, Cheryl Patterson of Carrolton and Anita Denney-
Moore of Villa Rica; two sons, Rocky Denney of Hammond,
La. and Tony Denney of Dallas; a sister, Wanda Bartlett of
Perry; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James United
Methodist Church in Hogansville.
The Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home of
Hogansville is in charge of arrangements.

Vester O. Hannah, Jr.age 74, of Unadilla, died Wednesday
at Quinton Memorial Rehab in Dalton. Born in Dooly
County, he was the son of the late Vester
O. Hannah and Janie Pearl Thomaston
Hannah. He worked at Kellwood in Perry
for 27 years, loved hunting and fishing and
was preceded in death by an infant son.
Survivors include: Sisters: Mary Lee Greer
of Dooling, Joyce Perrine of Fairplay, S.C.;
Brother: James Richard Hannah of Fort
Valley. Several nieces and nephews survive
including Rita Hudson and Debbie Anderson
of Calhoun. Funeral services were held in
the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral
Home of Unadilla. Interment followed in
Walnut Cemetery.
Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla had charge
of arrangements.

WARNER ROBINS - Emmett Lee McGuffin, Sr. 70, passed
away Thursday. A memorial service was held Monday at Christ
United Methodist Church. Interment with full military honors
followed at Andersonville National Cemetery. Memorials may
be given to the donor’s favorite charity.
McGuffin was born on July 19, 1935 in Stockdale, Texas.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He
was employed at Anchor Glass as an Electronics Technician.
A retired veteran of the United States Air Force, he served
his country during the Vietnam Era and he was a gunner on
the B-52 bombers. In addition to being a member of the Air
Force Gunner’s Association, he was a lifetime member of the
VFW. His parents, Claude Monroe McGuffin and Katie Davis
McGuffin, and brothers, Pete, Luke, Jay, Shorty, and Claude
“Babe” preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Janet McGuffin,
Warner Robins; children, Emmett Lee McGuffin, Jr. (Rosina),
Bonaire; Julie Pitzer (Gary), Byron; Russell W. McGuffin
(Robin), Cochran; Clinton McGuffin (Chantel), Wyoming;
brother, Allen McGuffin, Hondo, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
