The Perry Kiwanis Club recognized this year’s student scholarship winners
Tuesday. The club handed out six, $1,500/year scholarships to seniors at Perry
High School and the Westfield Schools. There area currently 24 students receiv
ing college scholarships through the club, and more than 30 students applied this

Tebbe joins Atlantic Southern board

Mary Therese Tebbe of
Warner Robins has joined
the Board of Directors at
Atlantic Southern Bank/
Houston County.
Tebbe is the Executive
Director of the 21st Century
Partnership, and previous
ly served as the co-anchor
of Eyewitness News, 13
WMAZ-TV A 1987 graduate
of Wesleyan College with a
degree in Communication,
she worked in broadcasting
for many years before joining
21st Century Partnership,
and, in 2005, she received
the Georgia Association
of Broadcaster’s “TV

Palumbo wins Ga. Southern scholarship

Georgia Southern
University recently
awarded Tylor Palumbo
of Warner Robins a
$2,000 Karl E. Peace
Award for Excellence and
Scholarship.
Established in 1996 to
recognize potential excel
lence in academics and
character of students, the
Karl E. Peace Award for
Excellence and Scholarship
is offered to outstand
ing high school graduates
who have been accepted
as traditional freshmen at
Georgia Southern.
Funding for the endowed
award comes from the
estate of Karl E. Peace, a
distinguished alumnus of
Georgia Southern College.
Peace is currently the
Georgia Cancer Coalition
Distinguished Cancer
Scholar, director of the
Center for Biostatistics,
and professor of biostatis
tics, in the Jiann-Ping Hsu
College of Public Health at
Georgia Southern.

must be outstanding high

Hamilton, Dykes
named to UWG's
dean's list

Hamilton of Bonaire and
David Dykes, William
Lyons and Ajay Pillai,
along with 1,314 oth
ers, were all named to
the University of West
Georgia’s dean’s list
for the spring semester
recently, according to Dr.
Thomas J. Hynes, Jr., vice
president for academic
affairs.
Students who achieve
a grade point average of
3.5 on a minimum of 12
semester hours of college
level courses in which
grades A through F are
Base Band’s “Operation
Seasons Greetings” Tour,
and has logged more than
100,000 miles around
the world as the show’s
emcee.
A native of Chicago, she
moved to Warner Robins in
1981.
Atlantic Southern Bank
was founded in Macon in
December, 2001, and is
one of the fastest grow
ing banks in Georgia with
assets of $465 million and
four locations throughout
Middle Georgia.

of study at the under

graduate level, including

4-H introduces a youth military camp

One hundred area mili
tary youth, each partnered
with a deployed fam
ily member, will have the
opportunity to join together
at the Wahsega 4-H Center
in Dahlonega for a camp
July 17-21.
According to a release,
the overall theme for the
week will be an introduc
tion to Georgia 4-H and to
learn more about issues of
deployment. A bus will be
coming through the area,
to help transport camp
ers.
During the week camp
ers will participate in a
program that includes
high-ropes, tubing down
a river, hiking through
mountain trails, early
morning PT, and enjoying
time with new friends.
The grant-funded camp
costs $25 for the week.
It is open to 13-15-year
olds whose parent is now,
