The win marked the Saints' fifth state title since 2016 in the program's third consecutive trip to the state championship under head coach John Adams. Photos by Jay Phillips Local nonprofit seeking gifts, volunteers to help children in need over the holidays BY CHRISTINE FONVILLE CHRISTINE@DEKALBCHAMP.COM Christmas may be just around the corner, but it's not too late to help local children in need this holiday season. Officials with CHRIS 180, a nonprofit located in unincorporated DeKalb County which provides mental health services for children, youth, and families, said they are in need of gifts and volunteers to help more than 100 families have a merry Christmas. The nonprofit will be collecting gifts and donations until Dec. 25 through its annual Holiday Wish List program. This list is available on Amazon so that shoppers can donate from the comfort of their homes and get exactly what a child is wanting for Christmas, said officials. Items on the list include backpacks, clothing, games, art supplies, puzzles Local nonprofit CHRIS 180 will be collecting gifts and donations for children in need until Dec. 25 through its annual Holiday Wish List program. File photo and hygiene products, but donations of gifts that are not on the list are also appreciated, said officials. "Fuel and food prices continue to remain high, making it difficult for many families to make ends meet and the holiday season can intensify the feelings of worry and frustration," said Natasha Reynolds, director at CHRIS 180. "The donations we receive are critical to ensuring the children and families we serve have a memorable holiday and we are so thankful for our local community and partners and how they give year after year to help us create a happy holiday to so many in metro Atlanta." Officials said an additional way to help is by making a monetary donation at CHRIS180.org/donate. CHRIS 180's community initiatives include helping locally with foster care, adoptions, housing, counseling and other support programs, according to the nonprofit's website.
