The Ford Company Disband*.•
The Clrnt G. Ford Comedy Company,
which played an engagement here last
week, and went from this city to A tian -
ta, have disbanded. The yellow fever
scare, and strict quarantine regulations
which have been inaugurated over almost
the entire lower southern circuit, caused
the trouble. It is nothing more than
was expected, however, as their per ■
formances here were pretty bum, and
disgusted the theatre goers. A part of
the company are here eu route north.

WILL GO TO ATLANTA
Health Committee and Mayor Will Look
Into Situation There,
ROME HAS NOT QUARANTINED YET
Committee Will Go Down This Morning, and
Upon There Vista Rests Decision as
to Whether we Close Our Gates.
To the Editor of The Tribunei
I do not believe there should be any
unnecessary alarm about the case
of yellow fever in Atlanta, No one
has ever been authorized to extend a
wholesale invitation to the refugees
to come to Rome, We will have
the trains watched more .carefully
than heretofore, and after our com/
mittee returns from Atlanta we will
decide whether or not to quarantine.
S, S, KING,
Mayor of Rome,
Rome has not quarantined against
Atlanta, and may not do so unless the
fever becomes epidemic.
The case reported in the Gate City
caused no great alarm here, and though
the situation was considered serious
enough to occasion more rigid precau
tionary steps being taken, very few peo
pie in Rome favor quarantining.
Yesterday at noon Mayor S. S. King
received the following communication
from Mr. J. S. B. Thompson, of the
Southern Railway in Atlanta:
Atlanta, Ga., noon, Sept. 24. Mayor
S. S. King, Rome, Ga.
Mild case of yellow fever with a 13-
year-old girl from Mobile developed in
Atlanta last evening. The physicians as
well as the Atlanta board of health offi
cially state the case a very mild one.
The house has been quarantined and all
precautionary measures have been
adopted to prevent any spread of the
disease from this ease.
Macon board of health on being ad
vised of the facts this morning has de
clined to quarantine against Atlanta
but is sending a committee of its board
of health here to satisfy themselves of
themselves of the true situation. Will
not the Ro ne board of health do like
wise. We will furnish them with trans
portation. Let us know if they will
come. We can assure them that the au
thorities here will give them every op
portunity of satisfying themselves that
not the least trouble is to be anticipated
at this point and that there is really no
occasion for quaranting against Atlanta
at the present time.
J. S. B. Thompson,
Mayor King upon receiving this
message at once called a meeting of
the health committee of the council
in his office at S. 8. King & Go’s for
2:30 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
The members of this committee are
Capt. Thompson Hiles, Dr. Lindsay
Johnson and Mr. Charles W. Morris.
Mr. R. A. Denny was. also present
with the mayor and committee.
After fully discussing the matter it
was decided to send the committee to
Atlanta, and make a thorough ex
amination into the situation. Then
they will will be better prepared to
know whether it would be advisable
for Rome to quarantine. The fol
lowing party will leave via the south
ern this morning at 10:30; Mayor S. 8.
King, Capt.. Thompson Hiles, Messrs.
R. A. Denny and C. W. Morris. They
will reacn at one o’clock in
the afternoon, and will at once meet
with the health committee and prob
ably Dr. Sawtell, the United States’
surgeon and expert stationed there.
The following telegram was sent to
Mr. Thompson yesterday afternoon.
Rome, Sept. 24, ’O7.
Yours received accepting your sug
gestion committee from Rome Board of
Health will leave tomorrow morning
for Atlanta, reaching there at 10 o’clock.
Meet them with all information and full
facilities for investigating matters.
Transportation wanted for four,
8. 8. King, Mayor.
The committee will not return to
Rome before Sunday morning. They
will make a complete investigation,
and decide as to the advisability of a

In the meanwhile there is no alarm
here, and no reason whatever for
any.

‘‘and we are fully as healthfully
situated as our big sister. Therefore
we are not going to quarantine, but
we are going ahead building new
houses and fixing up our streets and
getting ourselves in good shape for

Some one yesterday joked Mayor
King about this interview, and he re

way. Circumstances sometimes alter
