Mr. Robert Parrish
Mr. Robert Lee Par
rish, age 78, of Lyons, died
on Tuesday, August 31,
2021, at his home after an
extended illness.
Mr. Parrish was a na
tive of Louisville, GA, and
moved to Lyons in 1990.
He was a self-employed
painter and previously
worked for International
Paper. He was Baptist by
faith. He was preceded in
death by 1 son, Johnny Mc-
Clung; his parents, Rob
ert Lee Parrish and Lil
lian Webber Parrish; and
4 siblings, Nadine Parrish
Smith, Leonard Parrish,
J.D. Parrish, and Andy Par
rish.
His family includes his
wife, Betty Jo Parrish of
Lyons; 4 children, Sherry
Willis and fiance Craig
Smith of Vidalia, Felisha
Nelson of West Monroe,
LA, Travis Parrish and wife
Tabitha, and Derek Rewis,
all of Lyons; 1 brother, Es
tes Parrish and wife Peggy
of Vidalia; 10 grandchil
dren; and numerous great
grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.

Mrs. Betty Jo Guthrie
Parrish, age 75, of Lyons,
died on Thursday, Sep
tember 9, 2021, at her resi
dence after an extended ill
ness.
Mrs. Parrish was born
in Athens, AL, moved to
Georgia as a child, and
later moved to Toombs
County in the late 1960s.
She worked at Oxford in
Vidalia and Lyons for 16
years. She was a Baptist
by faith. She was preceded
in death by her husband,
Robert Lee Parrish; 1 son,
Johnny McClung; her par
ents, Calvin Maple Guthrie
and Irene Reece Guthrie;
and 5 siblings, W.D. Guth
rie, Dennie Guthrie, Larry
Guthrie, Tony Guthrie and
Harold Guthrie.
Her family includes 1
daughter, Sherry Willis and
fiance Craig Smith of Vida
lia; 1 brother, Curtis Guth
rie of Dublin; 2 sisters, Ann
Hutcheson of Vidalia and
Bobbie Nowling of Dub
lin; 6 grandchildren; and 7
great-grandchildren.
A private burial was
held on Monday at the Ly
ons City Cemetery.

Lawrence, age 93, of Sop-
erton, died on Wednesday,
September 22, 2021, at his
home.
Mr. Lawrence was
born in Treutlen County.
He served in the United
States Army during the Ko
rean Conlfict. He worked
at Fowler Dairy and Knox
Lumber in Soperton. He
later worked as a printer
for 19 years at Kalvine in
Swainsboro and retired
from GFF
after an ad
ditional 18
years as a
needle line
operator and
mechanic. He was preced
ed in death by his parents,
Nice Lawrence and Nettie
Fowler Lawrence; his wife,
Alene Nobles Lawrence; 1
grandson, Lance Hackle;
1 daughter in law, Janice
Lawrence; and all of his
siblings.

Pickett, age 88, of the Or-
land Community of Sop
erton, died on Thursday,
September 23, 2021, at
Fairview Park Hospital in
Dublin.
Rev. Pickett was born
in Atlanta, grew up in
College Park, and was
a graduate of Georgia
Military Academy. He at
tended Truett McConnell
in Cleveland, GA, where
he earned his Associate of
Arts degree. He attended
East Texas Baptist Col
lege, where he earned his
Bachelor’s degree and ma
jored in Sociology, Speech
and Biblical Studies. He
attended Midwestern Bap
tist Theological Seminary
in Kansas City, MO, and
University of Tennessee
in Chattanooga, where he
earned his Master’s degree
in Educational Psychology.
Throughout his career as
an Ordained Baptist Minis
ter he served 9 churches in
Texas, Georgia, Missouri
and Illinois. In 2005 he
moved to Adrian. In 2007,
he joined the staff at the
Christian Family Center
as a Licensed Rehabilita
tion Counselor. He was a
member of the Garden of
Prayer Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, Golden and
Robbie Elizabeth Watson
Pickett; his first wife, Mary
Helen Williams Pickett;
1 son, Timothy Moseley ;
and siblings, Sylvia Pickett,
Myrna Pickett and Golden

Oxford Industries prior
to her retirement. In addi

preceded in death by her
sister, Judy Truett; and her
brother, Roe Jenkins.
Ms. Holmes is sur
vived by her son, Nicholas
Holmes; two brothers, Na
than and Dale Jenkins; her
sister, Debbie Jenkins; two
grandchildren, Harley and
Sebastian Holmes; and sev
eral nieces and nephews.

Submarine Gold Crew. He
worked with the Depart
ment of Energy at the Ida
ho National Laboratory as
a Nuclear Research Tech
nician. He was preceded
in death by his maternal
grandfather, John Webb.
