Newspaper Page TextPAGE 8A BARROW JOURNAL WEDNESDAY, JULY 27, 2016 NATIONAL COMPETITION Barrow County 4-H members Will Frost and Abby Frost of Bethlehem recently attended the National Junior Limousin Show & Congress which was held July 8-14 in Lexington, Ky. The Frost Family exhibited five Limousin calves in total which included two steers and three heifers. Highlighting their succes was Will Frost’s steer placing first in his class and Abby Frost leading her heifer “Ginger Snap” to second place in one of the largest classes of the show. This event was the first ever cattle show at the Kentucky Horse Park. The Frosts were joined at this event by more than 200 other exhibitors representing 20 states. Class of 1971 to host reunion The Winder-Barrow High School Class of 1971 will celebrate its 45-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Winder Community Center from 4-8 p.m. There will be a catered buffet supper at 6 p.m. All class members and their guests (friends, spouses, parents) are invited to join together to share memories, pictures, stories and renew friendships. Vassar to headline Jug Tavern Festival The City of Winder has announced country star Phil Vassar as the headliner entertainment for the Jug Tavern Festi val on Sept. 10. Vassar’s career has seen the release of eight albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year and his own Rodeowave Entertainment label con tinues to expand and evolve. The annual Jug Tavern Festival is sched uled for Sept. 9 and 10 at Jug Tavern Park on East Athens Street in downtown Winder. Craft vendors and exhibitors are currently being accepted. Winder Classes of 1948, 1949 to meet The Winder High School graduating classes of 1948 and 1949 will hold a co-class reunion on Oct. 1 at noon at the Golden Corral in Winder. Harris Family Reunion planned Aug. 7 The descendants of John Littleton and Nancy Drucilla Johnson Harris are invited to atend the Harris Family Reunion on Sunday, Aug. 7, for lunch in the fellow ship hall of the Winder First Christian Church at 275 North Fifth Ave. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite dishes to share. Winder to host Community Appreciation Day Community Appreciation Day will feature the Kinchafoonee Cowboys in concert on Friday. August 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. on Candler Street in downtown Winder. The band is being presented by BrandBank and everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy a fun, festive night.
