Elaine Haley Allen
Elaine Haley Allen, 69, cherished mother, grand
mother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away
on Monday, December 23, 2019.
Affectionately known
as “Nanny” to many, she
was a daughter of the late
Leland Boss Haley and
Katherine Brown Ha
ley. Mrs. Allen was em
ployed for years at Bill’s
BBQ and was a long
time member of Mace
donia Holiness Church.
She enjoyed crosswords,
reading, cooking and
most importantly, she
flourished on time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, David Allen Sr.; daughter,
Kelley Cassandra Allen; and two sisters, Cathy Lou-
dale Stanfield and Lucy Belle Anglin.
Survivors include two children, Mike Allen (Me
linda) and Jasmine Elrod; three siblings, Donna
West (George), Ronnie Haley (Linda), and Randy
Haley (Bobbie); one brother-in-law, Willie Anglin;
six grandchildren, Melanie Allen, Josh Allen, Dan
iel Allen, Breanna Elrod, Blake Elrod and Dakota
Allen; five great-grandchildren, Zach Allen, Drew
Allen, Aiden Allen, Sawyer Allen and Jace Cordell;
and a host of other beloved family and friends.
Funeral service: Saturday, December 28, 2019 at
2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville with the
Rev. Wendell Hanley officiating. Interment will
follow at Macedonia Holiness Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Trey Gearing, Clinton Stanfield,
Keith Haley, Brandon West, George West and Joey
West.

Lois Gertrude Bridges
DANIELSVILLE — Lois Gertrude Bridges, 99,
Danielsville, passed away December 19, 2019.
She was the daughter of the late William and Ola
Irvin. She was also preceded in death by husband,
Charlie Bridges; sisters and brothers, Robert and
Grady Irvin, Gertrude Russum and Gussie Mae Free
man.
Graveside service: Saturday, December 21, 2019, at
Friendship Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two nieces, Linda Green and Viv
ian Russum.

Timothy “Tim" Roy Childs
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Timothy “Tim” Roy Childs,
76, of Asheboro, N.C., passed away on Monday, De
cember 23, 2019 at his home.
Mr. Childs was born in
Commerce on November
22, 1943 to Roy and An
nas Wofford Childs. Tim
was a graduate of Com
merce High School and
the University of Georgia.
He retired as an executive
after many years in the
textile industry. Tim was
a member of First Baptist
Church where he served
as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his sister, Paulette Childs Carson. Tim loved to gar
den, grow flowers and build model ships.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wilson Childs;
son, Timothy Roy Childs Jr. (Jennifer), Sanford, N.C.;
daughter, Wendi Childs Wellington (Brad), Asheboro,
N.C.; and grandchildren, Savannah and Wyatt Welling
ton, and Madison and Wilson Childs.
The family would like to express a special thank you
to Tim’s caregivers, Steven Campion and Connie Stul-
tz.
Memorial service: Saturday, December 28, 2019 at
1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church St.,

Leila Faith Coker, 82, died December 20, 2019.
Bom May 16, 1937 in Stephens County, she lived in this
area since 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents,
James “Jess” Pritchett and Willie Belle Gamer Pritchett; and
her husband, Jim Terrell Coker. Mrs. Coker was an active
member of Crossroads Community Church.
Funeral service: Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at
Crossroads Community Church with the Rev. Morris Sapp
officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Toccoa City
Cemetery.

Evelyn Bales Cowart, 75, died December 17, 2019.
A native of Clarke County, she was a daughter of the late
Ellis and Lula Dillenger Bales and was preceded in death by
her husband of 56 years, Eugene Cowart.

Dwight Winston Dean
NICHOLSON — Dwight Winston Dean, 75, Nicholson,
passed away on Tuesday, December 24,2019, at his home.
Mr. Dean was bom in Royston on Feb
ruary 12, 1944, son of the late William
“Bill” Howard Dean and the late Esther
Hulsey Dean. He was a plasterer having
worked at Tolbert Plastering Company
and was a member of the West End Baptist Church in Ath
ens. Mr. Dean was also a United States Army Veteran having
served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of two Purple
Heart medals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
brothers, Roger Dean, Wayne Douglas Dean and Rupert Ken
dall Dean.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Christo
pher and Alita Dean, Athens, Erie Scott and Amanda Dean,
Athens, and Steven Ryan and Tiffany Dean, Cross City, Fla.;
brother, Tony Dean, Danielsville; sisters, Brenda Floyd, An
derson, S.C., Pat Binns, Travelers Rest, S.C. and Donna Lakey,
South Georgia; and one grandchild.
Funeral service: Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 1 p.m. in
the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Hunter offi
ciating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church
Cemetery in Danielsville.

ferson, entered into rest Sunday, December 22, 2019.
Mrs. Godfrey was born
in Jefferson, a daughter of
the late Claude Elick Rob
inson and the late Marth-
ann Brogden Robinson.
Mrs. Godfrey was a mem
ber of the first graduating
class at Jefferson High
School, a faithful daugh
ter of God and believer in
Jesus Christ, her Savior
and Redeemer. She was
a wonderful homemak
er, a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She wel
comed many friends into her home.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godfrey is preceded
by her beloved husband, John; and siblings, Claudine
Westmoreland and Henry Robinson.
Survivors include sons, Claude Godfrey and his wife
Pam, Watkinsville, and Charlie Godfrey, Jefferson;
grandchildren, Chris Godfrey and his wife Theresa,
John Mark Godfrey, Savannah Rider and her husband

Jacqueline Belk Hart
DANIELSVILLE — Jacqueline Belk Hart, 89, Dan
ielsville, passed away on Friday, December 20,2019, at
the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Ath
ens.
Mrs. Hart was bom in Danielsville on December
18, 1930, daughter of the late Vernon C. Belk and the
late Reba McEwen Belk. She was a seamstress having
worked at Oxford Manufacturing and was a lifelong
member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church
in Danielsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, John Will Hart; daughter-in-law, Wan
da Hart; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, John
ny and JoAnn Hart, Danielsville, and Jackson W. Hart,
Danielsville; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jimmy
Mills, Hull; grandchildren, Chad Hart, Marcus Mills,
Mandy Vickery and Melanie McMillan; and seven
great-grandchildren.

Wade Lawson
Wade Lawson, 87, Cornelia, passed away peacefully
on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Born in Cornelia on
March 31, 1932, he was a
son of the late Byri Law-
son and the late Clara Tur-
pen Lawson. In addition to
his parents. Mr. Lawson
was preceded in death by
his beloved wife, Jo Beth
Graham Lawson; and
brothers, Bob Lawson and
Gene Lawson.
Mr. Lawson graduat
ed from Cornelia High
School and attended Clemson University. He was a
member of Cornelia United Methodist Church, 60 year
member of the Cornelia Masonic Lodge #92 F.&A.M.,
and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was
employed by Habersham Hardware and retired from
the United States Post Office.
Wade was a loving and devoted husband, a wonderful
father, father-in-law and friend to all he met. He genu
inely loved being with people of all ages. He felt there
was no better place to live than Cornelia, and no better
team than the Clemson Tigers.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Anna
