The ribbon cutting/open house for

time for new haircuts, new
clothes, new backpacks and
some new educational stan
dards.
It’s also time for many
moms and dads to start
working toward good grades
in parental involvement.
What can parents do to
help their kids do well in
school?
Three top Houston

tors offered some ideas in a
recent interview.

Luther Head will be
returning to prison for five
more years with another five
on probation once he gets
back out.
Head pled guilty Tuesday
morning in Houston County
Superior Court to possession
of a firearm by a convicted
felon, giving false name and
false statements and writ
ings to police.
Judge George F. Nunn sen
tenced Head to 10 years, five
to serve in the Department
of Corrections.
“Illegal guns in the hands
of convicted felons are a
danger to our entire com
munity,” said prosecutor
Assistant District Attorney
Erikka Williams. “Thanks
to the tireless efforts of the
Houston County Sheriffs
Office, we have another con
victed felon with a firearm
off the streets of Houston
County.”
Head was arrested Nov.
4, 2005, when deputies exe
cuted a search warrant on
James Worley at 105 Chisom
Court, Bonaire. Head was
found with a loaded fire
arm in a back bedroom of
the home after Worley was
arrested.
Head gave a false name to
avoid arrest, and then signed
that name on his advisement
of rights card when booked
into the jail, said Cpl. James
Williams.
