The U.S. Olympic
Committee’s next big mission
isn’t so much about winning,
as winning the right way. To
set the tone, the federation
took aim at Justin Gatlin’s
track coach and indefinitely
banned him from its training
facilities.
Trevor Graham, who trains
the 100 meter co-world record
holder accused of drug cheat
ing, was notified Thursday
that he was barred indefi
nitely from all Olympic train
ing centers in the U.S.
Graham became the first
coach to receive such a pen
alty, “based on the unusual
number of athletes he has
coached who have been
convicted of doping offens

Ueberroth said in a confer
ence call.
through the losers bracket.”
As if on cue, they did - in
the finals.
With a loss, they were
faced with having to beat
the Shockers twice, but the
runner-up at state sometime
earlier, wouldn’t even con
cede that.
They beat them 4-2.
“They had (basically)
run out of pitching,” said
Schnable, adding once again:
“Like I said, this tourna
At least six athletes under
Graham have received drug
suspensions, and Gatlin
recently disclosed a positive
test in April for testosterone
or other steroids. He faces a
lifetime ban for what would
be a second drug violation.
The ban is mostly symbolic
because Graham’s athletes
don’t train at the USOC’s
three training centers and
12 training sites across the
country. Still, it sets a new
tone and could signal bigger
things to come.
Graham, who answered the
door Thursday at his house
in Raleigh, N.C., refused to
comment. He spoke with
WRAL-TY saying the ban
was unfair. “They’re just try
ing to get rid of me,” Graham
said. “There are a number
of people just out to get me.
I’m not trusting no one right
now, at this point.”
ment, all week, this is the
most complete team I’ve
ever been associated with.
It was just a fantastic week
end, a fantastic week.”
And in the end, there were
a few awards to go around.
First off, was Kristen
Beattie. She was given the
All-World trophy. She played
at Warner Robins High
School also and Schnable
said this was her last tour
ney (with the club).
