50 YEARS AGO...
■ Aug., 1956 - Camp
meeting attracts crowd
More than 1,500 people,
the largest attendence in the
18-year-old history of the
campground, gathered at
the Christ .Sanctified Holy
Church.
All hotel and motel rooms
in the city were filled and
all of the 75 cottages at the
campground were occupied.
More than 500 people ate in
the cafeteria each day.
The annual camp meeting
was held the first week in
August.
