Local teens get money
smart at RFCU seminar

Seventy-eight local area
teens are a little more money
smart after a visit to Robins
Federal Credit Union July 31.
That s when the organization
held its free all-day event
for teens ages 13-18 called
Teens Get Money Smart.
Teens during that day,
and according to a release,
learned about the values,
beliefs and typical spending
habits of teens across the
country.
“They learned about check
ing and savings accounts,
and how to manage the, as
well as budget and building
credit.”
They also, according to the
release, learned about bud
geting and building credit.
Teens ages 13-15 took a tour
of the main branch, while
those 16-18 were given a
presentation of careers in
the financial industry. Two
even won a pair of tickets to
Whitewater and Six Flags.
The youth were also pro
vided breakfast and lunch,
courtesy of Robins Federal.
“I’ve really enjoyed every
thing, I’ve learned a lot,” said
attendee Jena Massicotte.
“And I found out that I really
don’t know how to balance
my checkbook after-all.”

phenomenon often is labeled
a “personality conflict,” but
many targets of workplace
bullying say the destructive
behavior is more hurtful
than many believe and in
some instances should be
considered criminal.
Gary Namie, a social
psychologist who founded

defines the behavior as
the repeated, malicious
and health-endangering
mistreatment of one or
more employee, often tak
ing the form of psycho
logical violence.

“Based on the 59-per
cent increase in the offer,”
Elliott said, speaking for
Lafarge, “we’ll continue to
operate where we are. No
thanks.”
The deal also included
the clean-up and sale to
the city of the First Street
site, with that cost, about
$lll,OOO, taken off the sale
price of the industrial park
land. At the $25,000 an acre
price the city would make
$141,000, but $289,000 at
the $40,000 an acre price.
