Design contest planned for state gardeners

If you enjoy designing gar
dens, would you like to see
how you measure up against
other Master Gardeners and
gardening club members in
Georgia? If you’re innova
tive, creative, inspired or
just scrappy enough to dive
into a contest, here’s your
opportunity.
The Georgia Center for
Urban Agriculture is-offer
ing a garden design con
test in cooperation with
the University of Georgia
Research Foundation, Inc.
UGA researchers have been
selecting and developing
new ornamental plants for
years. Collectively, these
plants are called the Georgia
FAI.F.N

Design a garden using the
Georgia Gems. The garden
design winners will receive
all the Georgia Gems used
in their garden design, as
well as the satisfaction of
knowing they’re among the
best garden designers in the
state.

will be announced at the
statewide Master Gardener
meeting in Savannah Jan.

Museum of Aviation ACE Program
Coordinator Cindy Groves addresses the
110 fifth grade students from Eagle’s
Landing Christian Academy that par
ticipated in the ACE plus field trip at the
Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins
Sept. 6. Students learned about electric
ity, toured the HH-3 rescue helicopter
and experienced life as a paratrooper
inside the C-130 Hercules airplane. ACE
field trips consist of hands-on science
based activities designed specifically
to directly support the science Georgia
Performance and National Standards for
each grade. ACE plus is a special pack
age which includes an ACE field trip and a
Guided Tour. To learn more about the ACE
