Freshman place kicker
Devon Pike kicked all the
extra points in the first half.
Bass added his second

game on a nine-yard bullet

With Northside up 28-

from its own eight with a
minute and a half left in
the half, the Eagles used
timeouts to stop play to get
the ball back before the half
ended.
“We weren’t trying to

on our two minute offense.”
The Eagles defense
played hob with that idea.

seasons. He added that Peach
certainly improved from
the time they met in the
Spalding Diamond Classic
in Griffin and the Panthers
won 11-0.
To score five runs in its
first two times at-bat, Perry
only had three hits. The
home team had six hits from
the third inning on, but
Peach County played defense
without any errors and four
not-quite routine catches by
shortstop Nikki Harris. The
Trojans also had two catches
in center field in the third
inning and an assist from
left field for an out at home
plate in the fourth.
Crystal Greer had an RBI
single in the home first scor
ing Ashley Craddock, who
led off with a walk. Power
hitting shortstop Marla
Patterson hit the ball on the
ground for a hit, and with
an error on the relay throw
home Greer scored for a 2-0
edge.
Peach scored once in the
top of the second on one hit.
The bottom half started
with Tasha Harris taking
an 0-2 pitch on the side.
Peach had its second and
last error on a bunt by Laura
Thompson. Starting pitch
er Jenna Clarke singled to
drive home both runs after a
passed ball.
Shay Newberry, running
for Clarke, scored on a wild
pitch to give Perry the 5-1
lead.
loose.
Damon Lopez fell on it
to get credit for the touch
down and the Eagles were
up 35-0.
To punctuate the Bulldogs’
futile offensive efforts, the
Eagles held their opponent
to minus-seven yards of total
offense in the first half.
Only four of Dutchtown’s
18 plays in the first 24 min
utes went for positive yards.
The second half mercifully
was played with a running
clock. By then Northside’s
starters were chilling of the
sidelines.
Still the Eagles were able
to tack on three more touch
downs.
Northside defender John
Ridley dove on a Dutchtown
fumble to give the Eagles
possession at the Bulldogs
nine-yard-line.
Two plays later, Tijuan
Green scored from the seven.
Ricardo Negron kicked the
extra point.

Sans said the Panthers
struggled in the field in the
early part of the game. The
top of the third began with
the third error charged to
Perry, and that led to an
unearned run (5-2).
After the Panthers failed
to get a run after consecutive
hits by Erica Smith, Greer
and Patterson in the home
fourth, Peach staged a two
run rally in the top of the
fifth. It started with back-to
back hits and a failed chance
at a fielder’s choice play at
home with one out (5-3).
Greer, playing catcher, made
a key throw for a caught
stealing at second base.
However another error led to
Peach’s fourth run. Fortunes
began to turn for the Perry
defense as Craddock, playing
second base, was in the right
spot to field an inning-ending
force out.

punt gave the Eagles posses
sion on Dutchtown’s 42.
With quarterback Joe
Scott at the helm, the Eagles
drove the 42 yards on six
plays, capped by Xavier
Hawkins’ 1-yard run.
Scott completed two-of
three passes of 14 and 12
yards during the drive.
Torry Veal finished
Northside’s scoring with a
12-yard touchdown run. He
had to score twice.
Veal made it into the
Bulldogs’ end zone on a
four-yard run but the effort
was called back for holding.
He got the ball again and
busted around the left side
for the score.

baseman Jessica Wright had
both an unassisted force play
at her bag and took a throw
from Patterson for the third
out. Patterson had two more
assists as Perry held Peach
scoreless in the seventh.
Clarke had seven strike
outs, walked one and allowed
seven hits in seven innings.
Perry (14-8) has two sub
region make-ups Monday
and Tuesday. On Monday,
Central-Macon comes to
Perry, then on Tuesday the
Panthers play at Northeast-
Macon.
The 4-AAA tournament
takes place Oct. 10-12 and
is hosted by Jackson High

four teams from each sub
region will play to determine
the four representatives in
