From Staff Reports
An early morning blaze
destroyed a home at 125
Feagan Mill Road near
Moody Road Thursday

everything, but suffered no
injuries.
Houston County Fire
Chief Jimmy Williams said
that the call came in shortly
before 7 a m. and firefighters
from five county stations, as
well as from Warner Robins
responded. He noted that
the fire spread through the
house to the attic and the
destruction was total.
Williams said that two
military personnel from
Robins Air Force Base saw
the smoke on their way to
work and stopped to assist
the family, which included

■ Declaring two county
properties as surplus after
receiving inquiries about
them.
A .33-acre site off U.S. 41
south of Moss Oaks Road
was an old compactor site.
The action by the commis
sioners declared it surplus
and sold in for $4,300 to
Larry Walker, who owns all
the adjacent property.
Commissioner Jay Walker
asked if pn assessment had
been done on the site.
Commissioner Larry
Thomson said the tract is
“of no use to anybody but
the contiguous land owner.
The area is zoned
Residential-Agricultural
and requires 200 feet of
road frontage and one acre
to put anything on it.”
The second tract, a .27-
acre parking lot for area
businesses between Carroll
and Main streets in Perry,
near the old courthouse,
was the site of the old coun
ty jail now and is zoned C-3
(heavy commercial). It is
valued at $27,100 accord
