first three innings (two per
inning) after drawing three
walks and getting hits from
Barrett, Snipes and Amber
Conlon. Ling made a running
catch of a low ball in right
field to end the third inning
with Demonettes standing
on second and third.
The Demonette offense
had an eventful fourth
inning to score the first run.
Barrett led off with an infield
single and took second on
Hutcheson’s sacrifice. West
also bunted the ball, which
Houston couldn’t handle.
Arnett called for another
bunt from the leadoff hitter,
Katie Farinelli.
With other runners to be
concerned about, there was
some hesitation on the part
of the Bear defense with this
third straight bunt. That
helped Farinelli beat the
play at first base and sent
Barrett on the way home on
the throw. Barrett just bare
ly avoided the tag attempt.
The home defense did
gain some redemption end
ing the inning on a double
play from Carriker at third
on them. We had a drive and scored,
and that ended the ball game pretty
much.”
It wasn’t a drive that progressed
without some tough decisions for
the sidelines. Houston had fourth
down with more than a yard to
go, and Johnson said his team’s
momentum was just too great not

Graham had three strike
