Local volunteers join New Orleans mission
Special to the Journal
A number of people from
Houston County recently
returned from a mission trip
to help with the rebuilding
of homes in New Orleans.
According to the team
leader, Dick Hamilton,
“This was our seventh trip,
and they don’t get any eas
ier. However, each time we
receive more blessings than
we can count.”
The team traveled to
the Gulf coast to support a
small mission oriented effort
known as “To the Least of
His”, led by Pastor Bobby
Gale.
“His goal is to help wher
ever the need arises, no mat
ter what it takes or where
it is,” Hamilton said. “This
time we had 13 ‘angels’

churches and one Alabama

The story begins eight
years ago. Brothers Ronnie
and Robbie Lee pieced
together an acoustic act
to perform country and
rock songs for a corporate
church. Although most had
never worked together pre
viously, we worked as a well
oiled machine accomplish
ing God’s work. We gutted
one home, and started on
another. Part of the team
worked on rebuilding a third
’’synopsis of what this trip
entailed.
Regarding the progress
in New Orleans since the
devastation of Hurricane
Katrina last year, Hamilton
said, “You can see some
improvements as you enter
the city, but 14 months have
passed and there are still
places that are uninhabit
able, without power.”
Hamilton’s summary of
the trip follows:
“The team arrived at the
Aurora United Methodist
Church, which provides shel

Eight years later, in the

other opportunities. Within
the following month, Ronnie
was asked to perform at an

He and Robbie decided to
