Is hell really bursting at the seams?
Talmadge Roberts
is a legend at the
University of Georgia.
He supervised the main gate
to the football field on game
days for over 40 years.
No one except football
players passed through
that gate without a special
numbered pass issued by
the Athletic Department.
Talmadge viewed many clas
sic games during the Dooley
era and witnessed many
Bulldog greats perform at
Sanford Stadium.
He was there in 1965 when
Georgia beat Bear Bryant’s
Alabama Crimson Tide, the
defending national champi
ons, with the famous flea

A number of collectible dolls, along with other valuable items are being sold in a silent auction at Bonaire United
Methodist Church. The names of winners will be announced during family fun events at Bonaire United Methodist
Church Homecoming on Sunday. Winner does not have to be present but must pick items up within two weeks.
Proceeds will go to the Bonaire Transplant Charitable Trust, P.O. Box 221, Bonaire, GA 31005 in support of Amanda
Dryden’s kidney transplant.

est esteem.
Every time Dooley passed
through the gate, he never
failed to speak to Talmadge
and to shake his hand.
Until Talmadge retired,
the first thing I did upon
entering Sanford Stadium
was to drop by to see
Talmadge. We usually dis
cussed the past ganrle and
the upcoming contest. One
day Talmadge went to the
concession stand and left his
assistant in charge.
Up comes Michael Adams,
the university president.
Adams wants to go on the
field before game time. The

belief in Jesus Christ will be
admitted.
In fact, Jesus is quoted in
John 14:6 as saying: “I am
the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me.” If this
statement is true, 80 percent
of the world’s present popu
lation is headed straight to
hell. This includes over five
billion adherents to non-
Christian faiths that do not
recognize Christ as the son

It grieves me to come to
grips with that possibility;
however, if we concede that
followers of non-Christian
religions can somehow get
into heaven, then Jesus’
substitutionary death on
the cross was in vain and

devised fable.
The Christian faith stand
or falls based upon Jesus’
resurrection. Paul wrote: “If
Christ be not risen, then
is our preaching vain, and
your faith is also vain.”

New Life
New Life Church, located

of Light” as a Halloween

Tuesday. The theme of the
event will be “Shining for
Jesus.”
