Perdue leads Taylor in campaign cash
ATLANTA (AP)
Democratic gubernatorial
challenger Mark Taylor
raised more campaign cash
than Republican Gov. Sonny
Perdue in the last full month
of the campaign for gover
nor. But Perdue continues
to hold a significant lead in
available money heading into
the final days of the election,
according to new campaign
disclosure reports.
Perdue spent a whopping
$5.4 million in October, the
bulk of it to blanket the
state’s airwaves with televi
sion ads. Taylor spent just
$1.7 million for the month
long reporting period which
ended Oct. 25.
The reports show that
lackluster poll numbers
didn’t prevent Taylor from
hustling to fill his campaign
coffers in October, pulling
in $723,546. Perdue raised
$628,343 for the same peri
od. But Perdue has $1.77
million cash on hand while
Taylor has just $214,774.
