Perdue, Taylor spar in final debate
ATLANTA (AP) - Lt. Gov.
Mark Taylor assailed Gov.
Sonny Perdue for using his
office to get rich as the can
didates faced off in a testy
final debate Sunday night
with just 36 hours to go until
the polls open on Tuesday.
Trailing in the polls, Taylor
hammered his Republican
opponent for signing a tax
law that that ultimately
allowed Perdue to avoid pay
ing SIOO,OOO in state taxes
and also for failing to pur
chase a nature preserve near
his home in Houston County.
Taylor alleged the governor,
who owns neighboring land,
had a conflict of interest.
In one heated exchange
over schools the two talked
over each other, failing to

OBTTUARIES
PATTIE REE LEVERETT COUILLARD
WARNER ROBINS - Pattie Ree Leverett Couillard, 67,
passed away Sunday. A rosary will be said today at 6 p.m.
with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. at McCullough
Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment following
in Leverett Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family sug
gests donations be made to the Alzheimers’ Association,
277 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Macon, GA 31201, or
to St. Jude’s Children’s Research, 332 N. Lauderdale St.,
Memphis, TN, 38105.
Couillard was born Oct. 22, 1939 in Warner Robins. She
was married to Bob for 50 loving years. She was a member
of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was store manager of
Lo-Lo Convenience Store. Her parents, James and Minnie
Leverett, Sr., and siblings; Paul Leverett, Sonny Leverett
and Genny Langston preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” A. Couillard;
daughter, Ronda Joy Gibson; son, Mike E. Couillard; son,
Rob A. Couillard, Jr. (Sandi); grandsons, Hank Couillard,
Shane Couillard, Cody Gibson, Jordan Couillard and Payton
Couillard; and sister, Gertrude Caswell, all of Warner
Robins.

WANDA ELIZABETH WILLIAMSON
PERRY - Wanda Elizabeth Williamson, 61, died Friday
Funeral services were held Monday at Second Baptist
Church in Warner Robins with interment in Perry Memorial
Gardens. Born in Houston County, Wanda was a 1963 grad
uate of Perry High School and was a retired insurance clerk
She was one of the original employees of the Perry Hospital
and was a longtime employee of Coliseum Park Hospital
and ObGyn Specialist in Macon. Active in Second Baptist
Church, she was in the Promises of Sonshine Sunday School
Class, the XYZ, and the WOM.
Survivors include her mother, Polly D. Williamson of
Perry; siblings, Carl E. Williamson, Donald M Williamson
(Jean), Deborah Brewer and Elaine Nash (Jack); nieces
and nephews, Kecia Isgett, Shelly Osborne, Kaci Elmore,
Elizabeth Haught, Mandy Scruggs, Jessica Long, Mindy
Montano, Brian Nash, John Brewer, Ben Nash and Robert
Brewer; 16 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her father, Emory Millard Williamson and a
brother, Millard Leroy Williamson. The family suggests
contributions to the Building Fund at Second Baptist or the
American Lung Association, 2452 Spring Road, Smyrna, GA

RALPH J. GANUS
WARNER ROBINS - Ralph J. Ganus, 81, passed away
Friday. He was born in Jefferson County to the
jin late Eli and Katherine Jordan Ganus.
He served in the Army Air Corps dur
ing WWII and was retired from Robins
