GDOT to scale back
holiday construction
The Georgia Department of
Transportation will scale back its
construction projects - suspending
related lane closures on all interstate
and major state system highways -
through Sunday to ease holiday traf
fic congestion. Beginning at 5 a.m.,
Wednesday and continuing until 5
a.m., Monday there essentially will
be no scheduled lane closures on
any Georgia interstate highway or
primary state route.

Child struck, killed by driver

A 7-year-old Centerville boy was
killed Sunday when he was hit by a
car on Old Field Court.
The boy, Marcus D. Rhyne, of
315 Manchester Lane, Byron, was
riding in a toy electric car on the
roadway when he was struck by a

Holiday event draws hundreds

Hard work and planning by the
Perry Balvaunuca Club paid off
big time Saturday and Sunday as
hundreds of shoppers showed up
for the Mistletoe Market, a dazzling
display of Christmas decorations,
gocmet foods and homemade
treats, personalized gifts and holi
day fashions.
Base takes on project to replace C-130 wing boxes

Workers at Robins Air
Force Base began a three
phase project in November
to ensure the viability of the
C-130 Hercules fleet through
the year 2030 and beyond.
Center wing boxes on C
-130s have been showing
cracks earlier than expected.
As a result, members of the
402nd Aircraft Maintenance
Group have removed the cen
ter wing box from aircraft
83-1212 and will replace it
with a new center wing box
as part of the first step in
addressing the problem.
The center wing box
sits atop the fuselage and
forms the attachment point
for both wings and all four
engines.
During phase two, main
tenance crews will replace

The toy that Rhyne was riding in
was driven by a 12-year-old friend,
West said, who lives on the street.
Rhyne was taken from the scene
to the Medical Center of Central
Georgia in Macon, where he was pro
nounced dead at 12:56 p.m. The 12-

when he crossed the centerline, West

Ford was arrested and charged

He bonded out at approximately
8 p.m. Sunday, paying S6OO each for
the first two charges and $2,500 for
the last, according to the Houston
County Jail, for a total of $3,700.
The bond was set by Magistrate
Judge Bob Turner on Sunday.

Air Force Base will march
in the 80th Annual Macy’s
Thanksgiving Day Parade in
New York
City.
Stepping
out with
them will
be mem
bers of the
Air Force
Academy
Band,
Cadet
Honor
Guard and
Cadet Flag
Squadron.
The
parade will
air live
on NBC
Thursday
from 9 a.m.
to noon
eastern
standard time. Each year it
draws an estimated 2.5 mil
lion parade attendees and 44
million television viewers.

Force Base will present a
free holiday concert at the
Museum of Aviation in the
Century of Flight Hangar at
7 p.m. Dec 7.
This year’s program is
presented by the City of
Warner Robins and the Air
Force Reserve Command.
The holiday concert will
include a variety of tradi
tional songs and novelty seg
ments including a delightful
setting of The 12 Days of
Christmas, complete with
illustrations by local grade
school children.
The holiday concert will
feature the 43-piece Concert
Band, which has performed
at various locations through
out the world with renowned
guest artists such as Lee
Greenwood, B.J. Thomas,
