The SAFER grants sup
port two specific activities:
the hiring of firefighters,
and recruitment and reten
tion of volunteer firefighters,
improving the effectiveness
of firefighting operations,
firefighter health and safety
programs, and to establish
least 6 hours at night, with a
parent or guardian’s sworn
verification that these driv
ing requirements have been

responsibility,” Singletary

attendance, a social securi
ty number, an Alcohol and
Drug Awareness Program

has been busy with several community service activi
ties. The group helped out at Habitat for Humanity’s
gift wrapping fund-raiser at the Galleria Mall, sang
Christmas carols for residents of Summerhill Nursing
Home, collected cranberry sauce for PAL and assisted
the Perry Kiwanis Club with their annual pancake break
fast. Kiwanis Club International sponsors Key Clubs in
high schools throughout the United States. Pictured are

Singletary explained that
cost had not increased over
the past year, but the num
ber of firefighters would
increase during the next
year. With a new ladder
truck and operations per
sonnel for that truck there
would be an increased need
in uniforms.
