YMCA to host
holidays day camp
Slots, according to Houston
County YMCA executive direc
tor Jim Mercer, are “filling fast"
for their YMCA Christmas Break
Day Camp. “Your students can
have lots of fun at the YMCA,”
he added.
The camp will be offered from 7
a.m. to 6 p.m. for the three weeks:
Dec. 21-22, Dec. 26-29 and Jan.
2-4, 2007 at the Houston County
YMCA, 2954 Moody Road.
The cost per week for full mem
bers is $34 for week one. S6B for
week two and ssl for week three.
For program members, week one
is S4O. week two is SBO and week
three is S6O.
There is a 10 percent sibling
discount and program member
ship is minimum requirement to
participate in all programs at the
Houston County YMCA, Mercer

The Houston County Board of
Education seeks public input on
school zones proposed for the new
Hilltop Elementary School and
Mossy Creek Middle School.
The schools will open during
August 2007, and the approved
zones would take affect for the 2007-
2008 school year.

Assembly starts Jan. 9,
2007 but two of the coun
ty’s local legislators already
have hills in the hopper.
The 40-day session is
scheduled to end March
30, but State House
Representative Willie
Talton, R-Warner Robins,
and District 18 State
Senator Cecil Staton, R-
Macon have already pre
filed legislation for the
upcoming session.
Talton has co-sponsored
House Bill 21, which would
make English the official
language for state docu
ments and forms. Staton

Commission OKs rezoning

sion.

The Lake Joy Elementary School
zone will not change with the open
ing of the new Lake Joy Elementary
and subsequent renaming of the
old as the new Lake Joy Primary
School.
No changes will be made to any
high school zones.
Other zoning adjustments are as

two through five to pre-K through
