Houston County has five absconded sex offenders
By RAYLIGHTNER
Journal Staff Writer
Houston County has 103
convicted sex offenders
according to the Georgia
Bureau of Investigation Sex
Offender Registry.
Of those, 21 are currently
incarcerated and most of the
others follow the require
ments of reporting and noti
fying the sheriffs office of
their whereabouts. There
are five, however, who have
not and their locations are
unknown.
The five are considered
absconders for failing to
register their address and
whereabouts with local
authorities. Two of the five
- Jay Dennis Aultman and
Alex Dawson - are cur
rently listed with the Macon
Regional Crimestoppers and
both are wanted for violation
of probation from Superior
Court and registration of sex
offenders.

Second leading cause
Radon is the second-lead
ing cause of lung cancer in
the United States. It’s the
leading cause of lung cancer
in nonsmokers.
“The U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency estimates
that radon is responsible for
more than 20,000 lung can
cer deaths a year,” Bennett
said. “About 600 of those are
Georgians.”
Radon is a result of the
natural breakdown of urani
um in soil and rock. Uranium
takes a long time to decay,
and radon gas is one of the
last stages.
