group participated in Bibb County’s Relay for Life May 4 and 5. This year’s theme
was “Cowboy Up, and Help Rope a Cure.” Mid South raised a total of $4,138.65
thanks to the support of the Middle Georgia community. The Bibb County Relay for
Life raised a total of $365,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Museum hires new flight

The Museum of Aviation,
according to a release,
recently hired Wayne Carley
as the lead instructor for
the Mission Quest Flight
Simulation Program.
Originally from Denver,
Colo., Carley, according to
the release, has an exten
sive aviation, education and
military background. He
served four years working in
the area of Naval Aviation,
with the US Navy. In 1983
he obtained a Bachelor
of Arts, and went on to
become a certified private
pilot in 1984. Afterwards
he taught both high school
and college for eight years.
Looking for another chal
lenge he shifted careers,
and worked as a marketing
communications consultant
for the next 10 years. Car
ley learned about the
Museum of Aviation from
a colleague, and inquired
about the available posi
tion.
“I was looking for a
change” said Carley “and
the Mission Quest position
encompassed both my love
for aviation and teaching.”
Mission Quest is an avia
tion based program for sev
enth-12th grades students,
designed to increase their
