Mayor to work with residents on development
By RA Y LIGHTNER
Journal Staff Writer
“Hopefully I can give you
an answer you like,” Warner
Robins Mayor Donald
Walker told about two dozen
residents from Country
Meadows.
The “pretty good contin
gent,” as Chris Barkley of
Crossfield Drive called the
residents, turned up with
concerns about the variances
granted last week for Larry
Wamock’s development.
Last week Warner Robins
Planning and Zoning
Commission granted lot size
and set-back variances to
Warnock so he can build 200
homes on about 40 acres
adjacent to the Country
Meadows subdivision in the
area of Crossfield Drive and
Houston Lake Road.
The 49.797-acre tract

as four other school sys

fellow teachers and School
Resource Officer Sgt. Porter

arrest.
Current School
Superintendent David
Carpenter said Taylor “has
to notify us in writing of
his intent not to appeal and
he has not done so yet. We
expect him to, but he has
not yet.”
David Carpenter said “we
want to make sure to follow
the law, so the personnel
hearing is still scheduled.”
The charges stem from a
May 26 incident with a co
worker at Northside Middle
School at her home. The rea

Barkley said the issue is
primarily safety. The two
entrances for the develop
ment go through the neigh
boring Country Meadows
subdivision. “Every single
bit of traffic will go by my
house,” Barkley said. “We
have a lot of traffic issues
now.”

arrest.
Aocording to a letter from
Carpenter, Taylor was told
on Feb. 9, 2006 and April
1, 2004 about unprofes
sional behavior and discuss
ing his personal life with
students. Carpenter said
Taylor apparently “willfully
and intentionally violated
the directives contained in
these letters,” by discussing
the relationship with other
teachers and one or more
students including using
students to deliver personal
notes and messages.
“In doing so,” Carpenter
wrote, “you have behaved
unprofessionally and in
direct violation of my direc

At the planning commis

he has tried to purchase
tracts between that one
and the 49 acres, but the
three owners have told him
“their land is not for sale at
any price. If I could put the
entrance off Houston Lake
Road I would.”
He also said he looked
at access from Abbington
Green, but it would end up
being a cut through from
Feagin Mill Road to Ga. 96.
“I’m going to do every
thing to get the entrance
on Houston Lake Road,”
Walker told the residents. “I
don’t have a problem hook

division.”
He told them the vari
