For the casual volleyball
observer - and volleyball is
still relatively new in middle
Georgia - all teams would
appear to play the same. So
the idea that there would
be a new system would be a
bit of a surprise. Jones said

Culverhouse said being the
defending champions does
have its advantages in that
there is no one team they
feel they have to beat.

As a review, Westfield
played five games on Oct.
14 in Dublin against only
two schools. The Hornets
beat Tattnall Square twice
and went 2-1 against First
Presbyterian.
Westfield had to beat FPD
back to back in order to
claim the championship. A

As for the players, Jones
has Morgan Hollers back
at setter. She has held that
position since her freshman
season.
“I’m expecting her to have
a great year,” said Jones. “I
know there are a couple of
schools looking at her right
now.”
Jones has pegged Catherine
Goodman as the one to take
over middle hitting duties
with Doebreiner’s departure.
Both Goodman and Hollers
are part of a large senior
class Jones will rely on for
significant contributions.
Also in that group are Leah
Culverhouse. “Every game
about came down to the end.
Even in the final game, if
that ball had fell it could
have easily tied it up.”
The coach refers to a tour
nament-ended catch made
by Jamie Marshall in the
outfield when FPD had
three hits with two outs in
the seventh inning and went
from trailing 6-2 to 6-4.
Westfield also needed
walk-off game-winning hits
in extra innings from Audrey
Clearman and Caroline
Pfohl, a lot of pitching from
Kelsey Gilliam, Jennifer

runs every time she had a
hit, and Mason Moreland

“She made it on the top 10

“Her serving was phenom

the top 10 list as a team

they proved it at camp (at
