Group taking names
for global award
Nominations are now open for the
Delta Prize for Global Understanding.
The Delta Prize, which is endowed
by the Delta Air Lines Foundation
and administered by the University
of Georgia, is awarded on an annual
basis to individuals, who by their
own initiative have provided oppor
tunities for greater understanding
among cultures and nations.

2009 award is Sept. 1.
Red Cross blood
drives set for county
The following American Red
Cross blood drives have been slat
ed for Houston County, according
to a release: Shirley Hills Baptist
Church, which is located at 615
Corder Road, Aug. 16 from 2-7
p.m.; Warner Robins O’ Team at
the Houston Mall, which is located
at 233 North Houston Road, Aug.
28 from 2-7 p.m.; and the Wal-Mart
at 502 Booth Road, Sept. 3 from 11
a.m.-4 p.m.

Wogan, who was charged with child
molestation was stationed at Pope
Air Force Base, N.C. He was NOT
stationed at Robins Air Force Base.

Of the 1,100 bridges in Georgia listed
as “structurally deficient,” some are in
Houston County.
State Department of Transportation offi
cials insist that none of those bridges pose
an imminent risk to the public.
“We have some that are deficient,” said
County Director of Operations Tommy
Stalnaker, “but they are all safe to travel
on.”

Officials cut ribbon on traffic signal - but not before accident

The traffic signal at U.S.
41 and Perimeter Road is
finally in full operation.
Oddly enough, Tuesday
started off with a collision
at 7:10 a.m., but the two
cars, the shattered glass and
debris were out of sight when
city, county and state digni
taries gathered at 11:30 a.m.
to cut a ribbon and celebrate
the completed improvements
to the intersection.

Decision time is getting closer on the proposal before
Perry City Council for early retirement for hazardous
duty employees.
The proposal, based on the benefit program now offered
by the City of Warner Robins, would allow certified
public safety officers, including firefighters and police
officers, to retire with full pension at age 55 if they have
