Navy Seaman Recruit
Karla C. Foltz, sister of Erich

During the eight-week

a variety of training which
included classroom study

naval customs, first aid, fire
fighting, water safety and

was also placed on physical
fitness.
The capstone event of boot
camp is “Battle Stations”.
This exercise gives recruits
the skills and confidence
they need to succeed in the
fleet. “Battle Stations” is
designed to galvanize the
basic warrior attributes of
sacrifice, dedication, team
work and endurance in each
recruit through the practi
cal application of basic Navy
skills and the core values
of Honor, Courage and
Commitment. Its distinctly
‘’Navy” flavor was designed
to take into account what it
means to be a Sailor.

Said JaLynn Hudnall of
Tetra Tech: “GIS and the
software that make it up are
THE gee-whiz factor fpr peo
ple today. It is what drives
the 3-D type software you see
on the popular program CSI
and it has enormous capabili
ties across industries. This is
the cool stuff that keeps kids
interested in learning.”
This year marks GIS Day’s
eighth year nationally, and
has grown within the state
of Georgia. “Last year there
was one event in the entire
state, this year there are 10.
Since this was our first year
here, we limited our class
size, but hopefully there will
be the interest and support
next year that we can have
it over several days with all
students and members of the
general public that are inter
ested” said Hudnall.
