Grace won’t reveal how she got

“disrespectful,” she says, to
tell strangers that before
she can one day explain to ,
her son and daughter how /

Drew Lachey, 31, has two perspectives on
Dancing With the Stars: as a contestant and
as co-host (albeit briefly). We asked him to
answer your questions.
Q Why don’t the pros tell their partners
that lifts are not allowed?
They do. But Lachey says, “you have to
step out of the judge’s shadow and do what
you think is going to be entertaining.”
Q Why do those talented people feel they
must wear next to nothing?
Basically, it’s what they like. Costumers
are “not going to put you in something
you’re not comfortable wealing.”
Q Will we ever see the judges dance?
Maybe. Lachey says Carrie Ann Inaba

Entertainment Tonights Mark Steines, 43, sees
himself as an ''Everyman.” Once you know about
his life, you understand why. He spent much of
his youth trying to "run away” from lowa first
through football, then broadcasting. Now in LA,
he tells us he "yearns" for his small-town roots.
Married to a former Miss America, Leanza Cornett,
Steines says he wants his sons, ages 4 and 5, to
enjoy the freedom he had as a child. 'We threw
open our doors and let the kids go out and play."

Q How do they choose which star goes
with which professional?
They try to form workable partnerships.
“Even if [the pro] thinks this person is
not going to do well, it’s a challenge to

Q, Why is the Academy of Country Musk Awards
* held in LA. and Las Vegas, but not Nashville, the
country music capital of the world?
Judith Harrison, Brent wood, N.Y.
“The Academy of Country Music has always been
a Las Angeles-based organization,” says the group’s
executive director, Bob Romeo. Nashville is a major
force, “but the music transcends any one location.” Be
sure you don’t confiise the Academy with the Country
Music Association, which is based in Nashville and
handed out awards earlier this month, ca
