You may have seen David
Blue on such TV series as Dirt

prime time big-time now. Blue
is now playing a Mode photog

Ugly Betty. And he confesses
that being in Betty's world is a
little bit surreal. “Rebecca Ro

Q* Many of Julie Christie's British
peers (Judi Dench, Maggie
Smith and Helen Mirren) have
been honored by the Queen with
the title Dame. Why not Christie?
Mike O’Leary, Lubbock, Texan J
Despite Christie’s 45-year rec- ‘
ord of achievement in films, she
has not been a prime candidate
because she has spent periods
away from the cameras. Also,
unlike the other Dames and
most of the acting Knights,
Christie, 66, hasn’t been a
major stage star. She de

for this year’s Away from Her. If she
gets a nomination, or better yet, if she
wins a second Oscar, it might put her over the
top to join Dames Judi, Maggie and Helen.

Qj Is it true that Hollywood had
planned to make a movie with
Reese Witherspoon based on the
1965-66 TV series Honey West ?
David Segarra, Brooklyn, .V.K
Yes. However, the deal fell apart
In July 2001, Miramax said
Witherspoon would star in a j
movie version of the cult clas
sic TV program, which was
produced by Aaron Spelling
and starred Anne Francis.
Six years later, we’re told the
project remains in develop
ment hell meaning every
one involved has moved on.
Instead, you can see Wither- j
spoon, 31, in Rendition, play- I
ing a woman who is trying I
. to get her innocent husband out of
a North African torture chamber.
Hk Or, wait until February to see the
gB actress star in the fantasy ro
mance Penelope.
Charlie Murphy has emerged from
brother Eddie Murphy's shadow.
This year, Charlie made nine
movies. The Perfect Holiday,
opening Dec. 12, being one.
"I've worked with Spike Lee, B
l Denzel Washington, Wes- B
3 ley Snipes, Halle Berry and wE
Sam Jackson," he says.
"The last thing on my mind
is competing with Eddie.” \
Murphy, 48, went into the ■ v. . J
Navy after high school and
got out in 1984 with a pro
fession. "I'm a certified boiler 'jKj' vl
technician," he says. "I know how BKejS
to weld. I could be a plumber."

Frances O'Connor was
bom in Britain and raised in
Australia. You won't hear her
accent though. She speaks
great American. O'Connor is
one of four rich and powerful
women friends in ABC's new
Cashmere Mafia, which starts
Tuesday. O'Connor, 40, hap
pily moved from London to
NYC, hoping the show will
get picked up for a full sea-
son. Along with her is her boyfriend, a Scottish actor,
and their toddler son. "Who wouldn't jump at it?" she
says of the chance to come to the United States.
Qj I'm curious about actor Ray Wise. Where was he
bom, where did he go to college, and what is he
doing these days? Orlando Loren Hodges, Detroit \
Wise, 60, was born in Akron, Ohio, and graduated j
from Kent State University. You can catch him every i
week on CWs Reaper playing a
devilishly delightful Satan. His im
peccably dressed devil “enjoys life
here on Earth,” Wise says, “enjoys
watching the human struggle and
participating in it. And he has a
great sense of humor. He likes to
laugh.” The actor has wrapped up
several movies, too.

Q. I read that Court TV is changing its name toTruTV
* and shifting its focus to entertainment. Does that
mean the network won't cover trials anymore?
Alice Bromley, New York
Com! TV becomes TruTV on Jan. 1, but there still
will be six hours of trial coverage on weekdays. The
plan is to increase the amount of real-life program
ming. And Star Jones’ new talk show will air after trial
coverage that runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. ca
