888 warns of online auto shoppers scam

The Better Business Bureau warned
auto shoppers this week of an online
classified newspaper scam circulat
ing the country. The 888, according
to a release, has received numerous
calls from consumers inquiring about
an automobile advertisement placed
online via CraigsList.com.
The set up, according to the 888, is
as follows: While surfing CraigsList.
com for a good deal on a used car you
come across an ad for a 2007 Audi
with low miles. The advertised price

as his son did. The buyer is then sup
plied with a fake soldier’s ID as proof.

The Scam the 888 reported, is as
follows: USA Transport contacts the
buyer once the money has been wired
to confirm a scheduled time for deliv
ery; however, the delivery never occurs
and the $3500 is gone. The address
used by USA Transport is an address
occupied by another unsuspecting busi
ness whose address has been stolen
and used in this fraudulent scam.

4-H shotgun team begins yean

The Houston County 4-H
Shotgun Team is currently
seeking youth grades 6-12
who are interested in partic
ipating in the Georgia 4-H
Project SAFE Shotgun Team.
The group’s first meeting
was Tuesday at the Perry
Extension building (Top
floor of Old Courthouse). A
second meeting will be held
