M WR LITTLE THEATRE
AUDITIONS - Warner Robins Little
Theatre will be holding auditions for
"Noises Off”, Feb. 25 and 26 at 7:30
p.m., at their 502 South Pleasant Hill
Road location in Warner Robins. The
script for this farce by Michael Frayn,
Samuel French, Inc., and*directed by
Emily Carver, calls for five men and
four women. Play dates will be April
18-19, 24-26 and May 1-3 at 8 p.m.
Sunday matinees April 20 and 27 will

Warner Robins Community Concert

Police thwart car jackers

The Houston County
Sheriffs Office Criminal
Investigation Division,
according to a release, is
investigating a motor vehicle
theft that was interrupted
by a sheriffs deputy.
According to the release:
Dep. Ron Brainard of the
Houston County Sheriffs
Office Patrol Division was on
routine patrol on Highway
341 in Perry around 8 p.m.
Tuesday when he observed
a 2007 Ford Roush Mustang
traveling south on Highway
341 just a short distance
from Wayne Morris Ford,
and with no headlights on.
Curious, Brainard turned
around and attempted to
stop the Mustang.

Eldis Dexter Kendrick, 35, of 612 Logue
Street in Perry pleaded guilty Wednesday
in Houston Superior Court and was sen
tenced to 40 years and ordered to serve 18
years in prison without the possibility of
parole. Kendrick pleaded guilty to aggra
vated assault on a peace officer, possession
of cocaine with intent to distribute, posses
sion of marijuana with intent to distribute,
and three counts of possession of a firearm
during a crime.
Events leading up to Kendrick’s sen
tencing are as follows. On July 22, 2007,
officers from the Perry Police department
and Houston County Sheriffs Office were
serving a “no-knock” search warrant at-
Kendrick’s residence.
As they entered, they immediately encoun
tered Kendrick in the living room pointing a
9mm pistol at the door. Houston Sheriffs
Deputy Richard Simons fired several rounds
and struck Kendrick at least twice. Kendrick
was transported to the Medical Center of
Central Georgia in Macon where he received
treatment for his gunshot wounds.
During a search of Kendrick’s home, police
found multiple bags of cocaine and marijua
na as well as several MDMA (Ecstasy) pills.
In addition to the pistol he pointed at the
deputies, police also two other handguns and
a shotgun in the residence. He also had an
audio/video surveillance system set-up out-
yn.
Appreciation Week in February, in observance oi tne
sacrifice of four Navy Chaplains who gave their lives on
the USS Dorchester, February 3, 1943. The ship sank in
the icy waters of the North Atlantic carrying with it the
four chaplains and some 675 servicemen. The chaplains
(one Catholic, one Jewish and two Protestant) had given
up their life jackets to four young soldiers who had none.

vision inside. No officers
were injured in the shoot
ing which was investigated
by the Georgia Bureau of
Investigation, Perry Field
Office.

Burke. “Our officers safety is just too impor
tant for anyone to pull a gun on an officer.
The entire police effort that early morn
ing was directed toward arresting a drug
dealer. It quickly turned into something far
worse, but they handled it professionally
and safely.
“The officers’ training, experience and
courage were the tools that kept this scenar
io from ending up far worse than it did.”
In addition to the prison sentence of
40 years/serve 18 years without parole,
Kendrick was fined $ 2,000 and banished
from Houston County, all surrounding coun
ties, and Monroe County for the entire 40
years.
Upon his release from prison, he will
be subject to numerous other conditions,
including, warrantless searches. Kendrick’s
trial was scheduled to begin Monday but
