STRAWBERRY FUNDRAISER
- The Perry Exchange Club's annual
strawberry fund-raiser is under way

SENIOR NIGHT - Middle Georgia
Technical College, in conjunction with

Careers Partnership, will host the
Third Annual Open House and Senior
Night, March 6 on the MGTC cam
pus in Warner Robins: Participants
can visit over 18 program areas at
MGTC and learn about financial aid,
career placement, advisement and
counseling, and receive information
on dual enrollment and post-second
ary credit options such as articula
tion, dual enrollment, ACCEL, and
the mini-core. In addition, high school
seniors will have a special session
focused on opportunities after high
school graduation. There will be two
sessions. The first, at 6 p.m. will be

participate in a separate session at

- The Houston County Friends of
the Library are holding a photo con
test. The contest involves taking
a picture of your Houston County
friends book bag in a place farthest
away from the county or is the most
unusual place for a book bag to find
itself. The deadline for submission is

- The Perry Hospital Auxiliary will
be holding its semiannual jewelry
sale March 13 and 14 in the hospital

OBITUARIES "Always remembered"
Edna Baker Havens
PERRY - Edna Baker Havens, 88, passed away at her
residence on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008. Funeral services were
held Friday at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with interment in
Perry Memorial Gardens. The family suggests contributions to
Southern Care Hospice, 3330 Northside Drive, Suite 106, Macon,
GA 31210.
Mrs. Havens, a native of Telfair County, and the daughter of the
rj late Jessie T. and Lena (Cravey) Knight,

was a member of the Second Memorial
Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Janell Culpepper of Perry,
Louise Brown (Dexter) of Eden, N.C., Leon Baker (Alma) of
Jacksonville, Florida, and Kay Jones (Rick) of Perry; 15 grand
children and several great grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by husbands, H. L. Baker and Delton Havens and a
beloved son, W. J. Baker

George Michael McLean
SEBRING, Florida - Sebring, Florida - George Michael
McLean, 55, entered into rest on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008.
Family members include his daughter, Jennifer Meeks (Paul),
Avon Park, Florida, one grandchild; mother, Mary Jaquess,
Warner Robins; father, George L. McLean, Gold Beach,
Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March
1, 2008 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital 332 N. Lauderdale St. Memphis,
TN 38105-2794.
James Leonard Peaster, Sr.
James Leonard Peaster, Sr., age 74, of Montezuma, Georgia,
passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2008 at Coliseum Medical Center
in Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at
First Baptist Church in Montezuma with Rev. Ralph Price officiat
ing. Burial followed in Bertha Dozier Memorial Park.
Mr. Peaster was born Sept. 2, 1933 in Thomaston, Georgia
to the late Marvin B. Peaster and Leila Mae Wright Peaster.
He was a tool and die maker and retired from Lithonia Lighting
in Cochran, Georgia. Mr. Peaster was a member of Christian
Heritage Worship Center.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean
War and also a member of the National Guard. He was a former
member of the Jaycees, he loved to fish and watch Braves base
ball. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and dearly
enjoyed family gatherings.
Survivors include his wife Marzelle Price Peaster of
Montezuma, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law James and
Tammy Peaster of Perry, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law
Pansy and Paul Parks of Perry, Georgia; one sister Betty and
Leon Salter of Americus, Georgia, six grandchildren; Jennifer
Fulton, Kirk Peaster, Zach Peaster, Luke Parks, Matthew
Peaster and Kinsley Parks.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Heritage
Worship Center - Building Fund, P.O. Box 248-Montezuma, GA
31063.
