The Nola Brantley Memorial Library recently hosted a party based on the book “Fancy
Nancy” by Jane O’Connor. Upon arrival each girl was presented with a fancy bracelet
and ring. They enjoyed haring Tabitha Pugh read the book. She was Miss Northisde
High school in 2002. Lindsey Nash and Stacy Armstrong from Sweet and Sassy Salon
demonstrated fancy hairstyles for girls of all ages, and the program continued with girls
modeling their dress-up outfits, making paper dolls and enjoying ice cream parfaits.
They also received candy necklaces. Lisa Newton, Karen Odom, Sherry Partain and
Jean Pruett all helped with this program. To learn about future programs at the Nola

Dr. Johnny Gayton and his daughter Mary recently enjoyed the scenery in Hungary,
while he was a keynote speaker for a surgery meeting there.

Gayton, recently traveled
to Hungary, where he was
the keynote speaker of a
cataract surgery . meeting
held at Budapest’s famous
Hotel Gellert. During his
lecture Dr. Gayton shared
techniques that he uses to
decrease the need for glasses
or contacts following cata
ract surgery. Dr. Gayton has
been a pioneer in this area
for the past 25 years and
has shared his techniques all
over the world.
Dr. Gayton and his daugh
ter, Mary, also took in some
of the sights in the Czech
Republic and Hungary
while in eastern Europe.

Perry Exchange Club
supports Rainbow House
The Exchange Club of Perry recently donated $2,000 to
the Rainbow House Children’s Resource Center in support
of their efforts to prevent child abuse in Houston County.
“Child abuse is a serious and growing problem both
nationally and locally,” commented Earl Chamlee,
President-Elect of the Exchange Club of Perry. “We are
proud to support the efforts of the Rainbow House to
reduce the occurrence of child abuse and to provide assis
tance to its young victims.”
Exchange, America’s Service Club, is a group of men and
women working together to make our communities better
places to live through programs of service in Americanism,
Community Service, Youth Activities, and its national
project, the Prevention of Child Abuse. The organization’s
goal is to ignite the spirit of community service throughout
the nation.
Formed in 1968, the Exchange Club of Perry meets
every Thursday at noon at Priester’s Restaurant in Perry.
