■ HC DRAMA CLUB, BIG BAD
WOLF - The Houston County High
Advanced Drama class will present
The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf, by
Joseph Robinette, who has stage
adapted such children’s favorites as
Charlotte's Web and The Lion, The
Witch and the Wardrobe, March
16. The one-act play, which will be
performed this week for Lake Joy’s
third grade, is a fairy tale fantasy
with a twist on the plot of The Three
Little Pigs. (Note: Vocabulary may
be advanced for Pre-K to second
grade, but they are welcome.) The
play is in the school theatre; admis
sion is by donation to the drama
program.

CAMP - The Warner Robins
Recreation Department will begin
registration March 17 for "SPRING
DAYZ", a day camp for spring

girls ages 7-12. The cost is $54 for

ing author Roland Smith to town.
Smith, a Georgia Children’s Book
Award nominee, will speak about
endangered animals, his travels
around the world, a love of read
ing and the writing process. He

to hear Smith speak March 25, at
6 p.m. at Thomson Middle School.

AUDITIONS - Boom Service,
a zany Marx Brothers comedy,
opened at the Perry Players theatre
on Main Street in Perry March 14.
It will run through March 22. The
Sunday matinee, March 16, is at
2:30 p.m. and all other performanc

"Always remembered"
Matthew Guy "Man" Edwards
PERRY - Matthew Guy “Matt" Edwards, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008. Funeral services
were held Friday, March 14, 2008, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with Reverend Jenny Jackson-Adams and
Reverend Roland Fall officiating. Interment will be in North Carolina at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Macon Masonic Home,
P. O. Box 4183, Macon, GA 31208 or The Salvation Army, 1000 Center Place
NW, Norcross, GA 30093.
Mr. Edwards, born in Asheboro, North Carolina, was the son of the late Grace Parlier and Matthew Guy
Edwards, Sr. He was a 817 Bomber Pilot in WW II with the Army Bth Air Force. He flew 22 missions over
Europe before being shot down over Brussels, rescued by the French underground, and eventually reunited
with his American Forces in England. Upon returning to the U. S., he was the recipient of the Purple Heart,
the Air Medal, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, and honorably discharged. Mr. Edwards attended Auburn
University, and later moved to Perry in 1973. He worked his way up to Plant Manager of the Milwaukee
Wisconsin Continental Can Company before retiring. A member of Perry United Methodist Church, he was a
Mason.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Ethel M. Edwards of Perry; his daughters, Linda E. Riley (Frank)
of Hiawassee, Gwen Petrashek of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and Kathy Edwards of Perry; his grandchildren,
Nicholas Meens, Patrick Meens, and Heather Beilke; and one great-grandchild, Landon Meens.

Brenda "Tina" Amerson
BONAIRE - Brenda “Tina” Amerson, 51, entered into rest on Monday, March 10, 2008.
Mrs. Amerson was born on Sept. 10, 1956 in Pavo, Ga. While living in Bonaire for the last 21 years, she
was a homemaker who was always surrounded by children. Her home church was Hemstad Baptist Church
in Pavo.
Family members include her husband of twenty-six years, Phillip Amerson, Bonaire; daughter, Tonya Henry
(David); Kathleen; sons, Alex Amerson and Ryan Amerson, both of Bonaire.
