MGTC foundation to
hold golf tournament
The Middle Georgia Technical
College Foundation will host its
third annual Golf Tournament
at Houston Lake Country Club
March 24. Proceeds from the
tournament will benefit Middle
Georgia Technical College stu
dents through scholarships and
the enhancement of programs
and services offered to stu
dents.
The tournament will begin
with a shotgun scramble at
noon. Prior to the start, lunch
will be served to all partici
pants. In addition, Houston
Healthcare will be sponsoring
a free golf pain clinic from 10
a.m. to noon.
Westfield Booster Club
sets golf competition
The Westfield Booster Club
is hosting their 14th annual
golf tournament at Houston
Lake Country Club Thursday.
The format will be a four-man
scramble pre-flighted by handi
cap. The fee is $75 per player.

mation of their team.

American Cancer
Society golf event set
The Relay for Life Golf
Tournament in support of the
American Cancer Society will be
held March 29 at Perry Country
Club. The event will begin with
lunch at noon followed by a
shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity to
hold golf tournament
Houston County Habitat for
Humanity will hold its sixth
annual golf tournament April
25. The tournament will be held
at the Waterford Golf Course
in Bonaire. The tee time is
I p.m. with a shotgun start.
Morning tee times are avail
able. Lunch will be provided
starting at 11:30 a.m. Prizes
will be awarded after play is
completed. The cost is S6O for
individual golfers, S3OO for a
sponsored team.

school program
Landings Golf Learning
Center will hold its Spring After
School Program - fun and fun
damentals - Monday-April 28.
Ages 5-7 will meet Mondays;
ages 8-10, Wednesdays; ages

will run from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Peach edges Northside in extra innings

County High was able to score
the decisive run in the top of
the eighth inning Thursday
at Northside High’s Dyson
Field. The Trojans handed
the Eagles only their second
loss of the 2008 season by a

the Vikings got as the Hornets

Albritton scored on freshman

Albritton fanned Jon Adams
with the bases full to end the
ballgame and move his record
to 2-0 on the season.
On Tuesday, the Hornets
defeated Central Fellowship 7-
4 in a non-region AAA baseball
game 7-4 in Macon.
Weaver, also a senior hurler,
started and pitched two-hit
ball for four innings. He struck
out 9 and didn’t walk a batter.

Defense keys

When you hear someone
talking sports say that defense
wins games,
they’re usually HHH|
talking football
or basketball
defense can often
begin and end Houston County
with the player 4, Loo County 2
on the mound.
But in taking
on Lee County at the Bears’
Den Tuesday, Houston County
showed that leather can be as
much a factor as ‘luminum.
Key defensive plays thwarted
the visiting Trojans time and
again as the Bears took a 4-2
victory.
Ironically, the first Trojan
to face HoCo starter Jeff
Thompson reached on an error
(the Bears only one) but ended
up stranded on third. The
home team then jumped on Lee
starter Gray Carden in their
first at-bat. Kyle Davis had a
leadoff single, then moved to
third on a hit-and-run single
by Chad Roughton. A hard hit
