his total to seven out of
seven.
Two of the Pike field goals
came in the final minute of
the first half. They helped
the Eagles take a 20-0 lead
into the break. Everything
went right for the Northside
offense in the first two quar
ters, including six third-down
conversions out of nine tries
and only 50 yards allowed to
the Blue Devils.
Tift County couldn’t catch
many breaks, however, even
in the punting game. In an
unusual formation with
three personal protectors,
two of the Tift punts took
bounces in the Eagles’ favor
for starting position close to
the 50. Another punt snap
sailed over the kicker’s head,
but he was able to recover
only to pooch it back to the
line of scrimmage.

Blue Devil quarterback
Malcolm Dixon had deep

These girls will be missed here at Perry
Middle both in the athletic stage and in the
classroom. Coaching many of them since
sixth grade, I have not just seen them grow
as athletes but also as students and people.
They are great girls and never discipline
problems.
It will be hard to see these girls go but
great to see them continue in there success
up at the high school.

Eagle running back Xavier Bacon goes in for Northside’s first score.
Some ill feelings got the
best of the visitors as a pen
alty on the bench preceded
an interception for Morton at
23 seconds remaining. A per
sonal foul moved the Eagles
closer to the goal line, and
Pike put in a field goal of
22 yards with three seconds
remaining.
Bacon had one other big
contribution in the game in
the form of a 56-yard kickoff
return to start the second
half. He fought through five
rushes to get to the Tift 12.
It would be the third drive
in a row to end in a Pike field
goal, this one good from 34
out at 8:23 (23-0).
Tift’s first offensive move
into Northside territory was
a brief one as Jones picked
off Dixon on the Eagle 10.
Northside would punt the
football back to its own 33,
but the field position didn’t
help the visitors as Williams
had the third interception on
the 29.
Darius Ivey’s sack on Dixon
ended the third quarter, and
Jones’ sack, the fourth of
the game, began the fourth
period. But Dixon shook both
