votes to give full-time-Holmes full-time salary

Tired of finding itself on the defensive
as of late, the Warner Robins City Council
took action Monday to lessen greatly the
chances of that happening in the future.
The group voted to approve an ordinance
on, of all things, ordinances. It reads to
start that no ordinance can be approved
unless it has been read to the public at
“two consecutive meetings of the mayor
and council”.
And yes, this was the second reading of
the ordinance, it. receiving a unanimous

The ordinance was the brainchild of
Councilman Bob Wilbanks who drafted
it, he said, because he felt the council
- including himself, he added - could do a
better job of making decisions. Specifically,
not making a decision only to come back
at a later date (after new information had
come in, etc) to change it (i.e. voting to
close Demon Valley Drive and later voting
to re-open it; and perhaps on the horizon is
the one regarding saggy pants).

Assistance Program, accord
ing to a release, will open
Nov. 4 for homebound and
elderly (65 years of age and
older) and on Dec. 2 for all
other eligible households.
The point of contact local
ly is Terri Grimsley at the
Senior Center at Rozar Park
in Perry. She can be reached
by phone at 478-328-0333.
The program, according to
the release, provides finan
cial assistance to low-income,
elderly and handicapped
households to help pay their
home heating costs.
However, emergency assis
tance may be available to
those who have been discon
nected or are in danger of
disconnection.
Households participat
ing in the program must
meet incme criteria and be
responsible for the cost of
heating their homes.
To be eligible, households
must have an income equal
to or less than 150 percent
of the federal poverty guide
lines - $15,600 or a one
person household, $21,000
for two people, $26,000 for
three people, $31,800 for
four people, $37,200 for
five people, $42,600 for six
people, $48,000 for seven
