Greenbriar Garden Club: a half century of service

Members of the Greenbriar
Garden Club celebrated the
organization’s 50th anniver
sary recently.
The club was organized
in 1958 and became part of
the Federated Garden Club
of Georgia two years later.
They are been part of the
history of Warner Robins,
bringing beauty to the city

through landscaping, gar
dening and donations of
many ornaihental trees.
Over the years members
of the club have engaged in
many civic projects, includ
ing the arinual Christmas
decorating of the Post Office
building, participating in
the Mayor's Motorcade to
the state hospital, and con
tributing to the Central
State Hospital gardening
program.

The bride wore an ivory
princess silk satin cha
pel length gown, hand
beaded and embroidered
bodice, dropped waist, A
line skirt with inverted
pleats at side and center
back.
The gown was designed
by Lazaro Perez. The
two-layer silk tulle veil
was chapel length, with
a rhinestone and pearl
tiara.
The wedding party
included the best man,
Dr. Greg Brown of Warner
Robins, brother of the
supported garden projects
at local schools, beauti
fied the railroad tracks and
landscaping on North Davis
Drive, planted dogwood
trees along Watson Blvd.,
contributed trees to land
scape the Houston Medical
Center, as well as rose bush
es to the City Gardens and
shrubbery for the Chamber
of Commerce grounds and
much more.
The group began with the
following charter members:

The maid of honor was
Alisa Garrett, and the
matron of honor was
Krista Long. Bridesmaids
were Shannon Brown,
Allison Barnette,
Jenny Rensler and Kim
Campbell. The flower
girl was Cayla Campbell
and the ring bearer was
Brandon King.
Readers were Michelle
Voll and Benjamin
Robertons. Amber
Toomey was the guest
book attendant.
A reception, with for
mal dinner and dance,
followed at the United
States Naval Academy
Officers’ and Faculty
Club. The reception was
hosted by bride’s par
ents Colonel and Mrs.
Kyle Rensler of Odenton,
Maryland.
The groom’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
Nadine Ard, Gladys Backus,
Mary Childers, Juanita Ford,
Evelyn Jones, Lorraine
Jones, Martyne Kehl, Betty
Kight, Julianne Mathews,
Georgia McDaniel, Edith
Miller, Mildred Mills, Eunice
Presto, Kathleen Smith,
Virginia Waldrep and Molly
Watson.
The current president is
Linda Dupree.
The luncheon celebration
was held at the Flint Electric

Blue Ribbon
battlefield
Matthew Brown, a stu
dent at Perry High School,
won a Blue Ribbon at
the Georgia National
Fair for his display on
the Civil War Battle of
Shiloh, which depicted
the battleground as well
as providing detailed his
torical information. His
uncle, Barry Pruitt, who
has a military background,
encouraged him in the
highly-detailed presenta
tion.

The bride and groom
are making their home
in Odenton, Maryland,
following a wedding trip
to Cancun, Mexico.
The bride graduat
ed from Arundel High
School, Gambrills,
Maryland.
She is a graduate of
Mercer University with
a Bachelor of Science
in Early Childhood
Education and has two

announce the engagement of their daughter, Christa Nicole
Williams to Brandon Albert Smith, son of Angie Sumner
Smith and Judson Gray Smith of Byron.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Dean S. Choney
and William A. Choney of Bonaire, Vashti Kemmerling and
Henry Kemmerling of Warner Robins, Wayne Derr and
Barbara Derr of Bonaire, John Williams and Betty Williams
of Locust Grove.
The couple met while students at Warner Robins High
School. The bride to be has earned her Asssociates Degree
in Behaviorial Science at Georgia Military College and is
now attending Macon State College where she is working
toward a Bachelors Degree in Business Marketing.
She works at EZ Jewely & Pawn in Warner Robins.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of Albert Sumner and
Jean Sumner, the late Judson Smith and Nettie Smith. He
is attending Georgia Military College, working toward his
Associates Degree in Business Administration.
He works at Robins Air Force Base.
Their wedding plans will be announced at a later date.
