Debi Hutchens of Perry
will have a book signing
on Nov. 1 from 2 p.m. to

Her book deals with her

’By the Book'
Beckie Burnham (who is
also in Perry Bookworms
and is the wife of our Dr.
Burnham who writes each
week about pet care) reports
that her other book club
“By the Book,” based at
Rehoboth Baptist Church,
will host “All Perry Reads.”
Beckie says the book the
group has chosen is “Bella,”
by Lisa Samson, and is a
novelization of the movie
with a Christian theme by
the same name.
The film was one of the
most honored movies of
2007 winning the people’s
Choice Award at the Toronto
Film Festival, Best Picture
and Best Actor at thq 2008
Movie Guide Awards.
Members of the club will
give away three copies of
the book at the Rehoboth
Baptist’s Family Fun Day on
Nov. 8, and are encouraging
the community to read the
book and then come together
for a discussion and a view

Joan From Page iC
the boys grew from tiny
infants, to chubby toddlers,
to rambunctious little boys,
Joan was there every week,
diligently helping care for
the boys.
Other caring and thought
ful people helped us with the
boys, but Joan was special.
Her only son Rad, had died
recently, at the age of 14,
from injuries he sustained in
a car accident.
It still amazes me, that
even after losing her only
son, Joan had the courage
to help us with our four
baby boys and their older
brother.
I know that many times
when she was rocking one of
the boys, she thought about
the times she held Rad as a
baby.
How heartbreaking it
must have been for her to
lose her only son, and still
she found the will not only
to carry on, but also to bless
us with her kindness. My
life was forever changed the
day that “Mrs. Joan” rang
my doorbell.
She taught me the true
meaning of love and sacri
fice, and for that I will for
ever be grateful.
