I apologize to my readers
for not having a column the
last two weeks, but I just
finished up at the fair last
week.
We had more than 700
entries this year and I hope
everyone got to come by
and take a look. Thanks
to Jean O’Connor and Kay
Parkerson from Carrie
Lynn’s for helping me set
up the vignettes.
It is challenging to take
all the entries and make
them into some kind of sen
sible display. We had some
of the most valuable items
we have ever had.
We had the great fortune
of showcasing the famous

Most brands of antifreeze
contain the substance eth
ylene glycol. After eth
ylene glycol has been
consumed, it is metabolized
and quickly absorbed into
the bloodstream and spinal
fluid. As a result, your pet
could act “drunk” within
30 minutes of consumption.
The body then converts the
ethylene glycol into toxic
crystals that rapidly accu
mulate in the kidneys caus
ing kidney failure. The dam
age to the kidneys caused
by these crystals begins as
quickly as four hours after
swallowing ethylene glycol.
Therefore, aggressive treat
ment is recommended within
4 to 6 hours of consumption.

It irritates me so to hear
of the economic bail out
of huge private companies

has consumed antifreeze.
Do not wait to see ilhe

symptoms are noticed, it is
often too late for successful
treatment.
If you see your pet drink

administer one tablespoon
of hydrogen peroxide orally
to cause vomiting. Repeat
in 10 minutes if vomiting
has Bot occurred.
Next contact your veteri

nausea, vomiting, increased
water consumption, poor

severe depression. If any

Everyone, whether pet own

pets. Please carefully dis

When possible, choose
antifreeze products that use
propylene glycol, because
they are much less toxic than
products with ethylene glycol.

World Community Day
at First Presbyterian
Church Women United is celebrating World
Community Day Nov. 7, at First Presbyterian
Church Fellowship Hall at 1139 Watson
Boulevard, Warner Robins, from 10 a.m. to
noon.
The program, “God’s Wisdom Sets Us Free”
will celebrate how we, as women of faith, can
make a difference the lives of others by sharing
our faith through the ministry of presence.
This celebration explores how we can reach
out with God’s wisdom and love to those behind
bars, whether made of steel or of human limita
tions.
This interfaith service will share with others
through music and scripture and will feature
guest speaker, Jordan Dotson, an 18-year-old
Houston County High School student, whose
classmates call “Preacher Boy,” and who, in
April, started his own prison ministry.
A spokesman for the church says, “Come
and be blessed by what this young man has to
share and learn how we, like the caterpillar,
can change and grow and escape the binds of
our own human failings and help others grow
beyond their prison walls.
There will be a covered dish lunch.

Church office at 478-923-8856.
