Model trains to lie displayed at Museum of Aviation
Special to the Journal
The Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club
will be bringing a bit of Christmas magic to
the Museum of Aviation this month. The
club, according to a release, is setting up a
large miniature train display at the muse
um Dec. 20-21 - and will be giving away a
“Santa Fe Flyer” starter train set.
The Bachmann electric train set is a com
plete ready-to-run HO-scale train with a
diesel locomotive with operating headlight,
and three finely-detailed freight cars includ
ing a hopper, gondola, and caboose. The set
comes complete with a speed controller and
track. Visitors can enter the free drawing

less than honorable, many

However, the results of the
Josephson Institute survey
don’t merely point to a dis
turbing trend where teenag

large and increasing num

are satisfied with their per

spite of it.
It doesn’t help that pop

the Downtown Development

for her guidance and help in
this endeavor.
The generosity of the ag

looked as they helped make
both the parade and the
Sunday evening service the
success that it was.
And last, but certainly not
least, a tremendous thank
you to the Perry Public
Works staff for hanging the
beautiful Christmas decora
tions throughout the commu-
resources or gadgets like cell
phones, are giving students
the ability to cheat in ways
they never could before.
All of these things con
tribute to the problem.
But there is another fac
tor. Moral relativism, which
holds that there is no real
absolute moral standard to
measure right and wrong, is
widely accepted today.
If our kids aren’t learning
that there is a clear stan
dard for right and wrong,
then as the C.S. Lewis wrote,
“we remove the organ and
demand the function.”
We cannot expect our
future leaders to have char
acter if we do not impart it
to the younger generation
now.
Reducing lying and cheat
ing starts with us parents.

The winner does not have to be present to
win. The large HO-scale train display by
the Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club
will feature several train lines continuously
running through a landscape scene with
miniature buildings, cars, bridges, rivers,
buildings and an airport. The club will also
have a larger O-scale Lionel train running
and a “12-days of Christmas” theme train
on display.
Club members will be on hand both days
to answer questions about model trains and
the hobby of model railroading.
nity as well as all the help
they provided to each and
every group on Saturday and
Sunday to make this entire
weekend come together so
successfully.
We could not celebrate
Christmas at the Crossroads
as we do without their assis
tance.
On Saturday we welcomed
Santa Claus to town. Sunday
night the community came
together to celebrate the real
reason for the season. On

the staff of the City of Perry
and members of city council,
Merry Christmas.

Not the school, not the
church, and definitely not
the media. We should clearly
communicate our expecta
tions and foundational val
ues to our children. There
are a lot of influences com
peting for their attention,
some blatantly encouraging
them to be dishonest. It’s
important that our voice is
the first one they hear when
their moment of decision
arrives.
