AN IMPORTANT
TRANSFER

ALONG stride towards Denominational Unity
will have been taken when the entire
publishing and manufacturing interests
of the Baptist Young People's
Union of America are turned over to
the American Baptist Publication Sdciety,
January 1,1908. The Publication Society, with
its great printing plant and its eighty-three
years’ experience in the work of denomina
tional publishing, should very properly be the
one agency for publishing and selling Baptist
Literature for the five million members of the
denomination in America. This transfer is a
big step in the right direction. We hope to
see it followed by other important changes
of the same sort. B. Y. P. U. workers and
leaders should bear in mind that hereafter
subscriptions to Service and Our Juniors, orders
for the books of the Christian Culture Courses,
and for badges, buttons, topic cards and leaflets
should be sent to the Stores of the American
Baptist Publication Society.

An open Letter..
Dear Sir: We are interested in help
ing the young boys and girls of the
country. We are helping a good many
of them. We are helping them to bet
ter positions. We are giving them a
training without which they could not
hold these good positions. By taking
the course of training which we offer
they are enabled to hold positions
which require more knowledge, and
perform service which is more valua
ble than the ordinary “cheap help”
and which the common laborer cannot
do. If you want to learn to “do
things” which will enable you to get
a better salary, write us. Richmond

Neuralgia
Do you know how to cure it?
Constitutional treatment will of
course. But that takes time, and
in the meantime you continue to
suffer. This is where Dr. Miles’
Anti-Pain Pills are invaluable.
They stop the pain. The pain is
in the nerves—in the large ones,
that is why it is so severe.
Anti-Pain Pills soothe these
nerves and bring relief. Get them
at any drug store.
“My husband and I have been using
Dr. Miles’ Anti-Pain Pills for neuralgia
and headache, for the past ten years.”

still and dark. The inmates seemed
to be asleep. “Oh, I must wake them!
The house will be burned up, and
they will perish in it.” She ran to
the house and knocked on the door as
hard as she could. She heard a noise
inside, and presently a man came to
the door. The child was out of breath;
she could just point to the flames and
exclaim, “The fire is coming to your
house!” The man ran out, followed by
his wife and little son. They quickly
broke bushy tops of the young pine
saplings, and all three, assisted by
Myra, began beating out the flames
that had nearly reached the house. It
was almost an hour before they suc
ceeded in putting out the fire. Myra
was nearly exhausted. The farmer took
her In his arms and carried her to
the house, where they gave her fresh
water to drink and afterwards milk
which Myra drank so eagerly that
they knew she was hungry and the
farmer’s wife brought her a potato
custard that tasted perfectly delicious
to Myra. When she was refreshed
and rested she told them her sorrow
ful story, how she had been driven off
by Mrs. Donny whom she had angered
by breaking a saucer. They knew Mrs.
Donny by reputation, how high-tem
pered and unkind she was, and they
said to Myra: “Don’t cry, dear child;
you are not friendless; you have saved
our lives, and you shall always have a
home with us; you shall be to us like
our own child.” So it was that God
took care of little Myra and raised up •
friends for her who were kind and
loving and made her lonely heart
happy. w. B.

GOT THE WRONG DOOR.
They were newly married, and on a
honeymoon trip. They put up at a
skyscraper hotel. The bridegroom felt
indisposed, and the bride said she
would slip out and do a little shop
ping. In due time she returned and
tripped blithely up to her room,
a little awed by the number of doors
that looked alike. But she was sure
of her own and tapped gently on the
panel.
“I’m back, honey, let me in,” she
whispered.
No answer.
“Honey, honey, let me in!” she call
ed again, rapping louder. Still no an
swer.
“Honey, honey, it’s Alice. Let me
in,” she whispered.
There was a silence and stilb no
answer. After several seconds
a man’s voice, cold and full of dignity,
came from the other side of the door.
“Madame, this is not a beehive; it’s
a bathroom.” —Exchange.
STILL HAD A CHANCE.
Virginians are telling with much
amusement of a Jamestown exposi
tion in which the Governor of one of
the Southern States was an important
actor. The Governor, so the story
runs, was crossing from his State
building to the executive offices of the
exposition. He was about to pass
through the gateway when he saw an
old negro carrying a large box.
“You go through first, uncl®,” said
the Governor, “You have the largest
load.”
“Yes, sah; ah has now,” replied the
aged darkey. “But hit’s early in de
